COLUMBUS, Ohio -- President George W. Bush had another phone conversation while in Columbus Wednesday with an assistant Columbus fire chief who recently lost his wife to breast cancer, NBC 4 reported.
Bush first met Karry Ellis in September during a campaign visit in Columbus. That was when the president learned that Ellis' wife, Martha, was battling cancer. The president called her on the phone.
Martha Ellis passed away in October, so Bush called her husband the day before the election to offer his condolences.
On Wednesday, Bush visited Columbus to tout his energy plan. While in town, he made another phone call.
"I answer, it's on my Blackberry, my phone," Karry Ellis said. "I said, 'Chief Ellis.' And immediately, you know, 'Karry, this is George Bush!' "
Bush asked Karry Ellis how he and the couple's children were coping.
"His next words were, 'I think about you every day, and I pray for you every day,' " Karry Ellis said. "I mean, it just overwhelmed me. I said, 'Mr. President, I can't tell you ... I mean, that just overwhelms me. I don't know what to say.' "
The president invited Karry Ellis and his children to the White House for the annual Easter egg hunt, which will be held later this month.

Ping for a story about a fellow Ohiowan. (Is that right - Ohiowan?)
No wonder we love our W so much.
Good story!
As I type this, Hillary is frantically berating her staff for not coming up with a grieving widower for her to comfort.
***Man of Character and Decency Bump***
No Obi-wan it's Ohioan. And Michigan is that state up north.
Our incredibly compassionate president seems to make a habit of maintaining contact with those in need . . .
In the Acknowledgement section of CAPTAIN DAVID ROZELLE'S BOOK "BACK IN ACTION: The Inspiring True Story of the First Amputee to Return to Active Command in Iraq", Captain Rozelle writes the following:
"Thank you, Mr. President, for your personal encouragement in our meetings and correspondence. Your leadership is steady and decisive. Your men are honored to serve you and this great country."
We may never know how blessed we have been to have him lead us!

God, bless our President! May glory and honor continue to be brought to Your Holy and Awesome Name through Your servant, George W. Bush.
It's just remarkable!
Amen to you both!
GWB shows yet again what a caring person he is.
He is a remarkable man as indeed all true Christians are and once again this story shows and proves he is a true Christian.
Bush is a good dude.
What makes a great man is not what he does when everyone is watching, it's what he does when only God is.
God Bless You Mr. President
