Update: The businessperson who, through attorney Gloria Allred, has offered Michael Schiavo a million dollars to walk away will be on Hannity & Colmes tonight, Thursday - March 10, 2005 at 9.00pm ET (GMT-5).
Although the actual headline reads "comatose woman," and since Terri Schiavo is not comatose, I've made the appropriate correction in the title of this post, nevertheless, the headline is interesting. But I doubt it will have much of an affect on Michael Schiavo since he can't spend the money in jail should Terri receive therapy and recover sufficiently to tell us how she sustained all of those broken bones. Until and unless he accepts the offer, it's a just another new whisper in the wind.

He just surfed over there and he LOVES it! He's going to take my keyboard in a few minutes thanks to you, Old Friend! :~)
Wouldn't it be something if Michael ups the ante to 2 million? Gloria is probably prepared for a little bargaining, huh?

But I doubt it will have much of an affect on Michael Schiavo since he can't spend the money in jail... If Michael does not accept the money, that will prove you right. In my mind, anyway.
What charges could be brought against him where the statute of limitations hasn't expired? Even if Terri came to and accused her husband of trying to kill her, it wouldn't be prosecutable at this time to my knowledge...

I would contribute to a fund to save Terri. He could say something like "fine. I'm tired of fighting this" and walk away. The money could even be put in someone elses name so his lawyer couldn't get to it.

The million dollars was deposited into my law firm's client trust account yesterday and this morning we communicated this million dollar offer in writing to Mr. Schiavo's attorney. I wonder if more money could be deposited to that account and how much more money could be raised/added to that account in 4 days.

I have been following this case for quite a while now. I am so glad that someone with money stepped up to the plate to call Michael's bluff, so to speak. Michael will most likely respond with some drivel about the money not being important to him. He will continue to play the tragic hero.

Want to bet Michael Schiavo refuses? I think Felos did his homework on Michael Schiavo, probably got all kinds of incriminating videotape of Michael visiting his wife in the hospice that once had Felos on its board. I think Felos carefully took notes and selected Michael Schiavo for his watershed moment in legal history. Schiavo won't slip his leash that easily.

What would prevent the Schindlers from turning around and suing Michael Schaivo once they got guardianship? He'd turn down this offer on that basis alone. This sounds like yet another Allred publicity stunt.

Schiavo will never agree. This has become personal between him and the Shindlers, it has nothing to do with Terri. He wants her dead, he wants the Schindlers crushed and no amount of money is gonna change that.
All this hopeless gesture does is win him fans for refusing the money.

I think that is a great idea and could be followed up by a representative FReeper who wanted to take the initiative to contact Gloria Allred's office

If nothing else its going to gnaw at Michael to have to turn down that money. He's way past the point of no return. He has invested his whole being into killing Terri. Terri is being discussed on KRLA (Hugh Herwitt) right nopw and all the pro-kill-Terri callers are on parade. It amazes me how passionate people are about killing this woman when they have little knowledge of the case (most say she's comatose, being artificially being kept alive, she wants to die, etc)
Also amazing is how many people think a ventilator/heart defibrilator/etc and a feeding tube are the same thing.

If true, this will be the first time Gloria Aldred and myself agree on something.
This is a great idea, appeal to his greed.
It will be interesting if he accepts to see his reasoning. Then I guess he might remember what he says is Terry's wish to die a little differently.

You nailed it, IMO. He can't possibly accept.

If we can get the money up high enough maybe, just maybe he will bite.
