Laptops For Our Soldiers
Picture this. Your spouse, your son or your daughter is recovering from wounds incurred in Iraq. Upon getting the news, you drop everything youre doing and leave your job or your school and your family and friends to attend to your loved one.
Youre at a military base hospital hundreds or thousands of miles from home for weeks and months on end. Can you telecommute? Can you e-mail home? Can your loved one e-mail their buddies in Iraq?
Probably not if youre staying at a Fisher House (and most families do, along with outpatient wounded).
The typical set up at Fisher Houses is one computer with a dial-up modem in the foyer. All seven families in the house vie for usage.
Thats why were starting a fund-raising drive for at least $80,000 to provide 44 laptops and six desktop computers, many with voice recognition software, and all with high-speed connections.
The Pentagon Federal Credit Union is so committed to this effort that we will start the fundraising drive with a challenge grant of $50,000.

Troops offer the truth via Web journals
Soldiers are trying to make sure their version of the truth from Iraq gets out.Even though for many, that truth doesnt include revealing their identities, their online diaries are becoming an increasingly popular way for anyone with an Internet connection to listen in on the war zone....
