PB Exclusive: A source--at least as "close to the process" as The Denver Post's source--tells us that CU's buyout offer will be in the "$3-$5 million range - possibly higher"
$3 mil would be ridiculous. It'd be cheaper for them to pay his salary until he decides to take another job.
For one thing, the $90,000 salary is probably not his base. That's likely an 11 or 12 month salary and he loses 2-3 months by not being department chair. He doesn't care, he makes just as much in speaking fees.
But I think he wants the prestige of being able to be affiliated with a school officially. He really needs it for "credibility". He'd likely take another job elsewhere.
Phil Mitchell just called in to John Gibson on Tony Snow's Radio show
If CU (at least partially tax payer funded) gives him multiple millions of dollars to go away instead of firing him, they should lose all taxpayer funding, both state and federal, for at least 5 years if not a decade, and then only get it restored after they go through a detailed evaluation period to make sure that all of the systemic idiocy and impropriety that led to him being hired and tenured is fixed, and all other nut-balls on the payroll are also eliminated from service.
makes sense.
Why should CU be rewarded for rewarding a lowlife with millions of dollars?
If they're going to be cowardly, I hope enrollment plummets even more.
Not happy about this but maybe it's a good thing. The money will actually be coming from the good tax payers of Colorado. Maybe this will work as a wake up call and they can now flush the toilet they call C.U.
I thought he was fired without pay and won 4 million in a wrongful termination lawsuit.
I guess it all depends on how you interpret the events...
(1) He was fired for participating in an NCAA Hoops pool for which he had received Departmental blessing, not for lying.
(2) He would have won a lawsuit.
(3) Big time Div. 1 Coaches are paid $ 1 million a year because if they win they earn the revenue. UW is now in the Pac-10 cellar (and TW isn't that likely to change that).
Nuts are contagious it seems.
...but his lying on at least two occasions was the impetus for the firing...
Churchill rumor ping!
I don't know the law, but I would be seeking legal representation to prepare a lawsuit against the misuse of taxpayer funds.
If at-will employment is the rule, tenure should be ignored... and he should be fired. Possibly, he should even hung in the public square, as an example to other traitors!
Who's money is C.U. planning on using to pay Chief FullofBull?
What ever happened to tar and feathered and run out of town on a rail?
Congressman Billybob
"What a frightened, pansy institution."
Rumor has it that he has them over a barrel -- it seems that he sold dope to some UC faculty members!!
So this SOB gets THAT much money for being an anti-American, peice of sh!t nutball!
I apologize, but my blood is boiling.
As someone who lives near Boulder, it is not surprising. I knew they wouldn't outright fire him.
Disgusting!
