CONCORD, N.H. - Morgan Quitno Press has named New Hampshire the ``Most Livable State'' for the second consecutive year.
Like last year, the Granite State passed Minnesota to take the top spot.
Vermont held at third, while Massachusetts ranked seventh, Connecticut 14th, Maine 15th and Rhode Island 23rd.
The 2005 award is based on 44 factors. They include median household income, the crime rate and job growth.

Maine number 15? This state is poor, overtaxed, and over nannyed.
Sorry, I misread the table. #35 is a more appropriate rank for California.
Hey we moved from 47 to 39. What criteria are used?
"They include median household income, the crime rate and job growth."
Was the cost of living and housing cost a factor?
How about average distance driving to work?
This is a bunch of bull.
Yeah 45 (and getting worse) so I would suggest everyone stay away. Come to Texas at you own peril. :o)
California - top 10 .. who did the ranking?
(((MS "#50 Again!" Ping)))
Last year, Seventh...this year, Fifth...tomorrow, the World!! Mooovin' on UP...
Interesting that NH is Number One as it is the State all them libertarian RightWingers have vowed to take over poltically. Wyoming, too, is a relatively libertarian state. Perhaps we're seeing a link between being Most Livable and Limiting Guv'ment interference in our day-to-day lives.
FReegards...MUD
Me too! Guess thats the public education here!
Accessibility to fried foods and denial of sex toys.
It must hurt to have New Mexico whup yer butt... :)
NH is not too bad for conservatives though it seems to get a little worse every year
This is crap. The states that I or relatives have lived in and hated are ranked high while the ones we loved are low.
Must be a Gallup poll.
I wish they would explain why all those damn yankees that used to live in the high ranked states keep moving down South to the low ranked states.
Oh YES New Hampshire and Vermont are an ideal place to live, that is why I can get more people out of those states to come out west especially in the lovely winter
months.
After all it is a whole other country.
Having lived in Washington, I can confirm that North Dakota is more livable. Especially for a conservative.
