I have never owned a glock so I know very little about them. I did fired one several years ago and was not impressed.
I have owned a dozen other semi auto handguns and in 47 years never had one accidentally discharge.
What the deal with glocks?
It also amazes me that any person trained in the use of a firearm with the intent to show it to a classroom full of kids wouldn't make sure there was not a round in the chamber before they ever entered the classroom.
I am still trying to decide who is a bigger doofus. The cop that handed the other cop the loaded gun or the cop who didn't check it himself.
What's one of those rules again...."Keep your finger away from the trigger unless ready to fire???"
I'm glad he didn't point it at anyone though. I give him credit for that.
bump for when I have broadband...
Thank God he was a professional. Imagine the damage he could have done if he wasn't professional.
A law will have to be passed preventing police officers from handling guns. Simple fix. /sarcasm
DEA Agent Shoots Self During Gun Safety Class
11:27 am EDT April 30, 2004 ORLANDO, Fla. -- A federal drug agent shot himself in the leg during a gun safety presentation to children and his bosses are investigating.
The Drug Enforcement Administration agent, whose name was not released, was giving a gun safety presentation to about 50 adults and students organized by the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association, witnesses and police said.
He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. Then he pulled back the slide and asked someone in the audience to look inside the gun and confirm it wasn't loaded, the report said.
Witnesses said the gun was pointed at the floor and when he released the slide, one shot fired into the top of his left thigh.
"The kids screamed and started to cry," said Vivian Farmer, who attended the presentation with her 13-year-old nephew.
"Everyone was pretty shaken up," Farmer said. "But the point of gun safety hit home. Unfortunately, the agent had to get shot. But after seeing that, my nephew doesn't want to have anything to do with guns."
The agent was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center after the April 9 shooting and returned to work, DEA special agent Joe Kilmer said.
Police ruled the shooting was an accident, but the DEA headquarters in Washington was still investigating, Kilmer said.
Several shocking things about that video.
Is Mr. Rastahair the best example they can come up with to demonstrate firearms "safety" to these children? Wouldn't they prefer someone with basic English language skills? I'm not talking about the fact that he is black ... I am talking about the fact that he has minimal language skills, no presentation skills, and obviously, no firearms training skills. There has to be a more buttoned down black or white DEA/Police (hard to tell what he is from his T-shirt) officer to represent the agency in front of children.
Secondly, he violated several of the most fundamental rules in firearms handling. Repeatedly. That is unforgivable.
Lastly, why would it even be necessary to bring ammunition into that classroom? Why was that allowed? There was no point to having any ammunition anywhere near those guns in a room full of children.
This video will serve as the 'standard' for firearms training among the Brady-bunch set. "Even trained professionals almost shoot schoolchildren ... therefore, no on should own guns."
Just listening to this guy talk gives me the impression that he's not the most well-oiled glock in the closet.
Is that "I gots these guns" that he says?
Hold muh donut!
The best saftey is the one between your ears!
I will admit that the only AD I have ever had was lowering the hammer on a 1911 when I was 18. The hammer slipped and I still have a scar on my thumb where the slide or hammer cut it.
And the idiot had the slide locked back and the chamber directly in front of his face. He checked the bore. Too bad he was too dumb to remove the magazine before releasing the slide.
"I'm the only one in this room professional enough to carry a Glock .40" ping.
That is just like saying, "Hold my beer. Hey y'all watch this!"
Thanks for that story. I shouldn't be but am still laughing at that guy, oh my!
It is a pity there are so many fools out there to give us all a bad name.
wow... more proof that those nasty handguns are dangerous for us civilians to have, and are safe only in the hands of trained professionals...
What a FREEPING IDIOT!!!
Typical stupid arrogant cop!
Oh that is funny. This is a joke right? This guy isn't a for real poo'licemen now is he?
