Some safety instruction for our gun owner Freepers.
Several shocking things about that video.
Is Mr. Rastahair the best example they can come up with to demonstrate firearms "safety" to these children? Wouldn't they prefer someone with basic English language skills? I'm not talking about the fact that he is black ... I am talking about the fact that he has minimal language skills, no presentation skills, and obviously, no firearms training skills. There has to be a more buttoned down black or white DEA/Police (hard to tell what he is from his T-shirt) officer to represent the agency in front of children.
Secondly, he violated several of the most fundamental rules in firearms handling. Repeatedly. That is unforgivable.
Lastly, why would it even be necessary to bring ammunition into that classroom? Why was that allowed? There was no point to having any ammunition anywhere near those guns in a room full of children.
This video will serve as the 'standard' for firearms training among the Brady-bunch set. "Even trained professionals almost shoot schoolchildren ... therefore, no on should own guns."
Just listening to this guy talk gives me the impression that he's not the most well-oiled glock in the closet.
Is that "I gots these guns" that he says?

A teacher friend related her most embarrassing incident as having occurred during the ninth month of her first pregnancy when her water broke while she was at the classroom blackboard:
Nothing quite as humiliating as wetting your pants in front of a roomful of Fourth Graders.
Yeah? Well try discharging a round into your leg while demonstrating firearms handling in front of a classroom of youths and adults as part of a program entitled "The Game of Life, the Game of Golf."
It didn't help that the (mercifully unidentified) agent prefaced his mishap with:
I'm the only one in this room professional enough, that I know of, to carry a Glock 40....\
In the old days, this was called "hubris," and was a favorite theme of ancient Greek dramatists.
The linked reports are conflicting and, in at least one instance, patently incorrect:
He drew his .40-caliber duty weapon and removed the magazine, according to the police report. (DEA Agent Shoots Self During Gun Safety Class)
While the viewer is unable to see the actual "unloading" process (1:36-1:41) as it takes place off-screen to the man's left, when the pistol is held up in front of the classroom at the 1:43 minute mark, the magazine is clearly still in the pistol.
As retired San Diego Police Officer Roy Huntington, Editor of American Handgunner, notes: "There's too much that could be said about this video...."
It's humorous in spots, especially the audience's response when the DEA agent calls for another gun, and the female assistant starts to hand him the carbine, a young voice is heard (3:20) hollering: "Put it down! Put it down!" (The lesson seems to have been learned by at least some of the on-lookers.)
But at the same time, it must be noted that the video does not support the assertion:

One thing which no one has really taken note of, is that after being wounded by his negligent discharge (he himself terms it an "AD" at 2:17), the DEA agent tries valiantly to stay on topic and make a point. When this was mentioned in colloquy with the source of the video clip, "I'll give the guy one thing... he 'stayed in the fight,'" he responded:
He certainly kept his head about him. Don't know if I could do the same under those circumstances.
Just so... take careful note of the direction of the muzzle at the moment of discharge! Compare also this widely circulated video of an earlier event in Nevada.
Anyone who hasn't seen the movie "Innocents Betrayed" should order their own copy. Jews For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership produced this movie to show what the fruits of taking firearms away from the common citizen are.

I will admit that the only AD I have ever had was lowering the hammer on a 1911 when I was 18. The hammer slipped and I still have a scar on my thumb where the slide or hammer cut it.

and wouldn't reccommend it if you like to keep one chambered.
If you can't carry a Glock with a round chambered then you can't carry a revolver either. For that matter I wouldn't recommend carrying a gun at all if you are not ready, trained and willing to use it.
No offense, but the folks at Glocktalk.com disagree with you too.
Actually, the newer Glocks (since about 1 1/2 years now) do have loaded chamber indicators. The extractor claw itself has a knub on it that pokes out to the side.
And the idiot had the slide locked back and the chamber directly in front of his face. He checked the bore. Too bad he was too dumb to remove the magazine before releasing the slide.
I can't make the damn video open.
