A joint Ethiopian-US team of palaeontologists announced on Saturday they had discovered the world's oldest biped skeleton to be unearthed so far, dating it to between 3.8 and four million years old.

"This is the world's oldest biped," Bruce Latimer, director of the natural history museum in Cleveland, Ohio, told a news conference in the Ethiopian capital, adding that "it will revolutionise the way we see human evolution".

The bones were found three weeks ago in Ethiopia's Afar region, at a site some 60 kilometres from Hadar where Lucy, one of the first hominids, was discovered in 1974. Researchers at the site in northeast Ethiopia have in all unearthed 12 hominid fossils, of which parts of one skeleton were discovered.

How else would we translate and there was evening and morning, ONE DAY. ~wy or the transliterated word YOWM is day and it occurs 137 times in Genesis. If we look at the other usage what other meaning could be implied?

You would have a much better idea of Genesis 1 if you understood the Jussive tense in Hebrew.

...that Darwinian evolution has not and cannot scientifically prove...

There's no such thing as a scientific proof. Except in the rather pedantic sense of the word "prove", meaning put to the test. Darwinian evolution has survived 145 years of being put to the test.

All the "yom" entries in Gen 1 mean an indefinite period of time. Gen 2:4 refers back to them and says "in the yom" God created the universe. God could not have created the universe in both one 24 hr day and 6 24 hr days. There is no alternative but to translate yom in this context as "indefinite period of time".

It works much better that way with reality too. In fact, the "let there be light" almost makes the rest of Gen 1 unnecessary, once you understand Einstein's formula for coversion of mass and energy.

Studying the Bible (which I find questionable considering your inability to put together a comprehensive representation of the central theme), does not mean a person is guided by the Holy Spirit. You obviously consider a majority of what the Bible says, as foolish myths.

Your mishandeling scripture is legion (I am not perfect in this, but am open to correction, when other scriptures clarify my mistakes).

Are you arguing that there isn't a shift of personal focus on the part of God when he creates Earth, seas, light and day, animals and plants first in an almost a off hand sense of focus but when he creates man he does so with a much more direct sense of purpose?

I'm not studied in Hebrew, you would have to explain what "Jussive" tense is to me....but I think the translators did a fairly decent job in translating God's creative focus shift between the creating of the rest of the world and the creation of man!

So you are saying that RMNS explains the complexity of life we observe, including the information stored in DNA?

I am not convinced by the things I have read.

Isn't it about time you find Ernie (couldn't resist), hey I didn't write the Bible, if you are unhappy with it speak to God. The thing evolving is "science". Have a happy day!!!

Yeah, but without the Sun, the Earth would not have any day of any length at all. If you want to take the Bible literally, you have to be consistent. Taking the Bible too literally gets you in all kinds of illogical traps like this. It hurts evangelism to insist seekers believe the unbelievable. It is hard enough to explain the Resurrection without having to explain days with out Sun or two different stories of creation that contradict each other.

Your view isn't literal if you insist on imaginings. The Sun did not exist until the fourth day. That means there was no 24 hr periodicity.

The explanation for the morning and evening passages is in the Hebrew thought poetry of Gen 1. It is a simple parallelism to end each "stanza".

and notice how God made man last ( I like to believe that He did this so man wouldn't take credit God's creativity).

two different stories of creation that contradict each other.

Now, that is just hilarious! Even little children know the meaning, but then any follower of Jesus' does and that aint even the Jussive tense

It's not a complete and final explanation of everything, but it's better than any other theory. There are always unexplained things in science, but I am not aware of any contradictions.

Natural selection is a pruning mechanism. It does not attempt to explain the source or cause of variation.

For well over a century biologists have looked for evidence that variation is non-random. There is precious little evidence of non-random variation.
