Bush's hydrogen future is here (Big break through)
United Nuclear ^

Posted on 03/07/2005 10:45:56 AM PST by JeffersonRepublic.com

United Nuclear is currently in final testing, and will shortly be producing Hydrogen Fuel Systems & Hydrogen generators for several late model, fuel injected, Gasoline powered vehicles.

Powering a vehicle by Hydrogen is by no means a new idea, and in fact, almost all automobile manufacturers are currently developing a new generation of vehicles that run on Hydrogen as opposed to Gasoline. This new generation of vehicles are essentially electric cars that use a Fuel Cell instead of a battery to run the electric motor. Using a chemical process, Fuel Cells in these new vehicles convert the stored Hydrogen on board, and the Oxygen in the air, directly into electricity to power their electric motors. These new vehicles are very efficient, and in fact are more efficient than any internal combustion engine. The problem is that these new vehicles are years away from production, are very expensive, and converting to using Hydrogen fuel in this manner requires you to buy a new ( and expensive ) vehicle. All Hydrogen/Fuel Cell systems currently under development by large manufacturers have you purchase Hydrogen as you would Gasoline. Our system comes with its own "in-home" Hydrogen generator which allows you to manufacture fuel yourself at near zero cost. Our Hydrogen conversion is an intermediate approach that simply converts your existing vehicle to burn Hydrogen or Gasoline. The Gasoline fuel system remains intact and is not modified. This allows you to switch between running on Gasoline or Hydrogen at any time. The engine itself is only slightly modified, the conversion makes substantial changes to the computer & electrical system, ignition and cooling systems. Since they never have to be removed, Hydrogen fuel storage (Hydride tanks) can be installed in virtually any available space within the vehicle.

I'm not sure of the economics but for a car that was never driven far from home, a conversion to allow the engine to burn natural gas might work. I think Ford already sells dual fuel vehicles if you want a factory setup The only other item you'd need is a home compressor designed for natural gas to fill the vehicle. Those are available from a couple of sources.

Did I mention you wouldn't be paying state and federal fuel taxes?

Well,, it can't be any worse than having a propane or natural gas storage tank in your car.
Did you know that gasoline can or is more explosive than hydrogen in a vapor form ?

I don't know, I am basically kind of distrustful of government funding.

Ok, I thought I was crazy reading these posts but I read the article but missed that they were not running a fuel cell in the first paragraph. Sorry to all the posters. I've been reading way too many science articles today and I tend to miss the subtle points when I've read too much!

Is it possible with the new technology in solar power cells, to create a home generating union for hydrogen for our cars and homes, but, not only use solar to power it, but, also with a back up system of cheap fuel. Now if someone can invent a home union to produce hydrogen fuel for the cars, and home, and can do it in a cheap cost efficient way by using a mix of technologies, like solar, electric, even natural gas, it might work.

There is no fuel cell involved here, only a converted gasoline engine and hydride tanks.

That's why we need more individuals with private funding on a entrepreneurial level to bring this into a reality.
We who want this new technology and a lower cost of fueling our homes and cars can't depend and reply on the government anymore, we need to take this idea and invest it, and bring it to the market place.
Competition and more products being produce will bring the price down on this technology.
Isn't that what America great ?? Individuals taking the bull by the horns, invented something, and became a entrepreneurial.

It's a very interesting company, and I hope they can get some federal funding -

Taking money from people (at gunpoint if necessary) and giving it to other people to whom it does not belong is immoral.

I never knew they used rocket fuel to waterproof the Hindenburg.
Most likely back then, rocket fuel was highly refined kerosene

Actually, back then rocket fuel was highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide.

According to a documentary on The Learning Channel a couple years back, the rubbery substance they slathered all over the Hindenberg to waterproof it was startlingly similar to modern solid rocket fuel. The theory is that static electricity acquired during landing sparked somewhere in the external structure, igniting the rocket fuel.

There are some major hurdles that this approach would overcome, but there are somethings about Hydrogen that you just can't change. The following PDF file explains it very well.

I was wondering ?
The amount of energy used ( solar cell panels installed on your home roof or property or electricity from the electric company ) volts, watts, amps, or however you measure the amount you use in a hour, does it matter if it's just 9 volts, or 220 volts, in the amount of hydrogen gas you would produce for the day to full up your car ?
Or the more energy use or put in to make the hydrogen gas, the more hydrogen gas you get out or produced ?
Or ? whether you use just 9 volts, or 220 volts, you would get the same amount for the day on how much you need at the time ?
If a solar cell panel is used in this system, and it is sufficient to produce the amount of hydrogen gas you need at the time,, then why not use it.
If I can produce the same amount of hydrogen gas from a 9 volt battery as I can from a 220 volt source ( if that is true ) than, we can surely use solar panels on our homes or in some kind of system with multiple sources to run this thing.
I guess,, to make sure you don't run out of hydrogen gas in the tank, you would put a pressure regulator in it, kinda like how your hot-water heater works, when the amount of hydrogen in the tank goes down to a certain level, it will automatically start up and bring the amount of hydrogen gas to a level in the tank so you won't run out of the gas if you were to fill your cars tank, or need it for you home.
Also with this system, you would need a back out line hooked up the the Gas& Electric company for a backup in case something goes wrong with the hydrogen producer union. Maybe you can make a system to use multiple sources of energy.

That theory has been tested and found to be invalid. See the link below.

Airship Hindenburg: Experimental study of the involvement of the outer covering paint (dope) in the disastrous final fire.

It was the Hydrogen.
