Clinton Gave Up Plane's Bed to Bush

NEW YORK - On their tour of tsunami damage in Southeast Asia, former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites) once allowed his predecessor, former President George H.W. Bush, to sleep on the plane's only bed while he stretched out on the floor.

The government plane in which the presidents toured the disaster area had one large bedroom and another room with tables and seats, according to an interview with Bush in this week's Newsweek.

Bush, 80, said Clinton offered ahead of time to give the older former president the bedroom so he could lie flat and avoid paining his body. Clinton, 58, decided to play cards in the other room that night.

The next morning, Bush said he peeked in and saw Clinton sound asleep on the plane's floor.

"We could have switched places, each getting half a night on the bed, but he deferred to me. That was a very courteous thing, very thoughtful, and that meant a great deal to me," Bush said.

Bush said he and Clinton are not close, but have been compatible on the tour, partly because Clinton respects his age.

The March 14 issue of Newsweek hits newsstands Monday.

I certainly hope so. We ought to remember to pray for Bill Clinton.

If Christ can convert Saul, then there is hope for even Bill Clinton.

Hummm...Clinton "allowed" it? Was it Bubba's plane?

If Hillary wins president it will be the Presidents(2) fault for making them sound human and building them back up.
If there was a hot chick on the plane Clinton would throw him out of the bed.

I think that would be beautiful. Those of us who are believers should pray more to this end.

Those people do nothing unless they can get a good press angle from it.

No kidding. If Bush hadn't said anything about it I'm sure Clinton would've ensured it was leaked to the press. There isn't a selfless bone in that guy's body.

Wow, so Bubba didn't make an elderly man sleep on the floor. I suppose the AP thinks he deserves a Nobel Prize for doing what he was supposed to...

why in the world did we send two former presidents on a plane with only one bed?

I'd be willing to bet that there was just one bedroom, but there were couches or seats that converted to sleepers in other rooms. clintoon is trapped in a time warp - college boys tend to "crash" wherever they are.

Awwww, gee, ain't that nice.

Now, if he brings back to life all the people he murdered at Waco, I just might think he is sort of semi-human.

He's used to it.

I'm sure he slept on the floor most of the time while he was in the White House.

actually CONFESS the wrongs he did,.....

I believe that he may have to confess to being at least involved with who knows how many murders. Do you think he will do that? It would be worth it to save his soul but will he understand that? Another good question for the Christians out there. Would he have to confess to his horrible sins public-ally or would he have to confess them to God alone and try to make the best of the rest of his life before and with the LORD's help?

That was nice of Clinton.

"Nice"??? Ridiculous! Bush is old enough to be Clinton's elderly father. Would you make your elderly father sleep on the floor??? Please don't fall for this. The MSM has no shame, pushing this sort of nonsense, sparing no effort, however minor, to boost the image of the Clintons wherever possible.

Many of us have always said that Clinton would make a good drinking buddy. Newt thought he'd be a great frat president. Big deal. He was still an utterly awful president. Maybe the worst in our nation's history.

I wondered the same thing -- surely a refit could be done or some other plane could have been used.

Perhaps it was simply because Clinton found it easier to do lines of coke from the floor rather than from a bed.

You know, I hear Clinton is immensely charming and engaging in person.

I will never care for his politics, although he is by no means the worst of the Democrats, and I thought his philandering was unacceptable based on security/blackmail considerations, not just moral grounds. But he seems like he'd be OK to go out with for a beer with the guys.
