Not so sure it's an attack on males. I think there have been many scientific studies correlating testosterone and aggression. If you look at the side effects of male hormone-like drugs you will see "aggression" as one.

So if you 'hit back' or 'disagree' with friends, you're too agressive!
("if someone hits me, I hit back"),("I tell my friends when I disagree with them").
So, basically, the article is stating that men with shorter second fingers are pansies!

What's that you say Allison?
You say if I give you the finger I'll get more testosterone?
Consider it done.

I think the second finger is ring finger and 4th is index ("Mr. Pointer").

In a related study it was found that all scientists with second fingers larger than their thumbs could be bribed by grant money into reaching ridiculous conclusions on any subject. :-)

Haven't you heard...size doesn't matter...:^)
To: Bostton1
They are speaking of the index finger and the ring finger (the index being shorter indicates more agression).
To: Bostton1
Perhaps this will help?

Are they talking about your middle and pinkie fingers. Deep in the article they say the ring finger is the fourth. Therefore I guess they mean the index finger is the second.

That's for musicians; the psychologists, it appears, do it differently. See #16.

Second finger is your index finger (next to thumb) and 4th is ring finger. My 2nd is much smaller than the 4th and I have aggression problems, at times.

How is the author numbering the fingers? I thought "the second finger" she was talking about was the middle one, until she started saying the fourth one is the ring finger. In which case, her "second finger" would ordinarily be called the index finger. In which case she considers the thumb a finger.
How tough would it be to describe her finger assignment before launching into the rest of the story?
