LUDHIANA: A newly wed man was injured at Hotel Park Plaza on Friday when he tried to prevent two unidentified persons from videographing him with his wife in their room around 3 am. Complainant Harpreet Singh is a resident of Gurdev Nagar here. He had checked into room 114 of the five-storey hotel on Thursday night. He told the police he saw two persons dressed as waiters standing behind the rooms window with a camera. He broke the glass pane with his fist order to catch them but they escaped after hitting him on the head and the arms. Harpreet has been admitted to CMC hospital. Following the complaint, eight hotel staffers were taken into custody for questioning. Ludhiana SSP Narinder Pal Singh, who reached the hotel around 5.30 am, said the involvement of insiders could not be ruled out. CM Amarinder Singh, who was in the city, told mediapersons that he had been informed about the incident and had asked the police arrest the culprits at the earliest.
Major embarrassment: Hotel Park Plaza is Ludhianas only five-star hotel and part of the 25-hotel Sarovar Park Plaza and Restaurants chain. It opened four years ago and receives 25-30 guests every day. MD Jessy Khangura admitted the incident was a major embarrassment for the establishment and also reflected a serious security lapse.
Pre-planned? It has been alleged that the room in question was deliberately let to newly weds. The police have taken into custody hotel records to verify the allegation. However, MD Jessy Khangura strongly denied this, claiming that the hotels first floor was seldom used by occupants.
I guess they haven't heard of concealed wireless video cameras in India. Hmmm...maybe there's a new business possibility, eh.
BTW, I bought one of those video camera detectors a couple of years ago, and pack it in my luggage when I travel. You'd be blown away by how many signals there are out there, especially in hotels and motels. Some are probably security cameras, but I'd guess a lot of rooms in the US have a built-in camera.
Still, if you ain't a good-looking couple, odds are you won't be put in one of those rooms, so you won't have to worry about some pimple-faced night manager watchin you.
Whatever you do, though, do NOT shine a blacklight in your hotel room. You do NOT want to see what it exposes.
I'm just twisted enough to want to know. I'd probably never sleep in another hotel room again, though, at least without bringing my own linens! LOL
Where do you get one ?
Some bodily fluids fluoresce a nice bright white under black light. Ewwww!
And the police found a monitor in the manager's office!
"Where do you get one ?"
Lots of outlets. Google "hidden camera detector" or "wireless camera detector."
There's one other option, if you're interested. Most of these hidden cameras operate at the 2.4 gigahertz frequency, with just four basic channels. You can actually buy a receiver for these cameras that gets all four channels. They're pretty small, and will hook up to any TV.
I haven't done this, but it might be interesting to pack one in your luggage and check at your hotel. Who knows what you might see. I'm serious. I've gotten signals in many of the hotels and motels I've stayed at in the past couple of years. Some are doubtlessly not hidden camerals, since wireless camera systems are popular for surveillance, but some are hidden cameras, I'm quite certain.
You'd only know by trying to intercept the actual signal and view it. Not too expensive.
Sleep nothing; you wouldn't want to go in there without wearing a Level A fully-encapsulated ensemble...
There are a lot of signals on 2.4 GHz. Very popular ISM (license-free, low power) band.
"There are a lot of signals on 2.4 GHz. Very popular ISM (license-free, low power) band"
There are, indeed, a lot of such signals. Some of them are cameras. I've just ordered a 4-channel receiver on eBay. Next time I travel, I'll take it with me and see if there any video signals at my hotel.
One of the primetime news programs (20/20, I think) did a program on cruise ship rooms recently. In an upper class cabin on a newer ship they found urine and semen on the carpet, furniture, walls (including ceiling), door handles, and blankets. There were huge urine spots on the walls.

That's what I figured...how nasty! Especially in a place that isn't exactly Motel 6...you'd expect a little better, but somehow I doubt it.
Double-yuck!!
BWAHAHAHAHA!!
I swear, I need one of those just to change my baby! :)
Oh...my...God. It's WORSE than I thought! How can people BE so nasty?! Just because they don't have to clean it up? That is just sooooo disgusting.
God, I would be mortified if I left a room in a condition like that. Of course, I'm the type that will make the bed before I check out, lol!
Try not to do that anymore. I used to help my sister out at her motel, and it takes more time to undo the bed to re-make it with clean sheets than if you left it undone. And time is of the essence when you're cleaning rooms. PLUS, you may get some lazy maid who figures that since you've already made the bed, she/he won't have to change the bed. That's even worse.
How in the blinding blue blazes do "fluids" get on the ceiling?
When we leave, we take the used towels and put them all in the tub. Hopefully this makes it easier on the maid
Your post has given me a new hobby to pursue.
Point taken. I used to help my step-aunt when she did it for a summer job when we were teenagers, so I don't go all out, heh heh.
I just can't stand leaving it all rumpled looking. Making the bed is the first thing I do in the mornings, wherever I am...ingrained habit, I guess.
In a hotel, though, the sheets just get pulled back up and the blankets straightened, that's it really. No hospital corners, ect. Worst comes to worst (I've got kids, heh heh) I just strip the bed and pile the linens on top. I always pile up the used towels together, too. I'm a neat-nick, can't seem to help it, lol.
