Roughly a .01 percent fatality rate for service in combat in Iraq. Someone show me a U.S. war with a lower rate of fatality.

Let's see. 1500 (which of course includes accidents and other things, which you rocket scientists so often forget to include) from Mar 03 to Mar 05.
That's about half of the number who died from about 0840-1045 EDT on 9/11/01.
What was your point again?

It's the Ghoul Watch. It's also WAR, and frankly I'm amazed that the list of soldiers who have died is so LOW! It's a testament to their training and equipment.
You ask if it's worth it. It may not seem so to we who are here in relative safety from the maniacs who are intent on breaking down any sort of civilized society in the Middle East. I'd venture to guess, however, that the majority of Iraqi citizens think it is, and so do the soldiers doing the fighting because they are being thanked by those citizens every day for freeing them from the bondage of the tyrant.

Want to get into statistics????
Even though Chicago had a workable sewer system, in 1885 a massive four-day rainstorm caused sewage to flush far enough into Lake Michigan to invade the citys water intake cribs located several miles offshore. An estimated 75,000 people perished from the resulting contamination, about a quarter of the growing citys population.

... "and counting" ... like misers count their money, with expressions torn between glee and worry.
You Bush-hating leftists just can't wait for a new milestone number so you can point your cowardly fingers and then wring your hands... because, of course, this news isn't about soldiers fighting for international security from terrorists and WINNING freedom for people in an oppressed region, but it's all about YOU and your anti-American agenda.

The latest death brought to at least 1,500 the number of members of the U.S. military who have died since the U.S.-led war in Iraq began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 1,140 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department. The figures include four military civilians. I heard a pMSNBC news babe misreport this fact this morning. She gave the 1500 number as 'killed in action', when it's actually 1,140. Just like any other demographic, our troops succumb to illness, accident, etc. Their numbers are part of the 1500.

Good thing you weren't around for the American Civil War. About 1200 Americans died on the first day at Bull Run.

How many deaths were counted on a daily basis at the hands of Saddam by the MSM? NOT ONE!!!
Did the so called human rights party raise one finger over the mass graves? NO!
How many lives have we saved if he was murdering 1000's a year?
This thread smells like cat food!

25 million people free from the open pit mass graves and bullets to the head.
Are you saying that isn't worth it?
Are you saying that the people of the Middle East aren't 'good enough' to save?
That makes you a !!!

1,500 and counting. Is it worth it? Why don't you have a chat with Senator Kennedy about that?

On the first day of the Civil War there were reportedly 5,000 casualties (Sumpter wasn't a real battle). This was at First Manassas and was expected to be nothing more than a mild skirmish. Admittedly these were not all deaths and the figure represents both sides. Just a little perspective. Was it worth it?

The press must be thrilled. Meanwhile, real Americans are sad for the families but determined to win the peace.

We had 7000 killed in a week of fighting at the battle of Iwo Jima. It was worth it then and it is worth it now. The stakes are just as high. Now go play with yourself moonbat!

During 2003, 17,013 people in the U.S. died in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes, representing 40% of all traffic-related deaths. (NHTSA 2004a)
17,013.
17,013.
17,013.
in ONE calendar year.

Death is part of life. These men and women died that an entire country might live and be free and that our nation may be safe from islamic terror. There is no sacrifice as noble as this--to lay down your life for your fellow man.
When you die in your bed someday having accomplished absolutely nothing in your life, my guess is that you will be asking the same question of yourself: "Was it worth it?"
