Vanity? - Need Exploratory Cmte Info 2008 GOP Hopefuls, Warner, Owens, others

Posted on 03/01/2005 9:38:23 PM PST by Bluegrass Federalist

The judicial filibuster issue is of primary importance to me, as it is to many others, and I want to start working now to elect a conservative in 2008 who will not put up with this nonsense. Byrd's Nazi speech is the last straw, so I will not wait for an establishment candidiate any more. Does anyone have any contact info on conservative candidiates who have or will form committeees? I like Gov. Mark Warner and Gov. Bill Owens a lot, and would like to talk to them on a serious level about their candidacies and starting an organization in Kentucky. If they would like to talk to someone with a state party profile, I would love to start working on this now. I understand the need for discretion, but I am sick of the lack of fortitude and can be very helpful to a serious conservative candidate.

I've heard that Condoleezza Rice is a possibility.

Mark Warner is a democrat.

As of now, Mark Sanford would get my vote. South Carolina Governor.

Yes, I couldn't get to the moderator fast enough. Sorry, it's late. George Allen is a guy I had done a lotof research on (through a fellow Freeper) and liked a lot. I was just reading an article that has Warner in it and screwed up. Please forgive me.

Two votes for Gov. Sanford R-SC from Michigan.

Gov. Huckaby of Arkansas is another good one.

I like Condi, I just don't see her heading the ticket in 2008.

I will have to research Sanford. I just want to get out ahead of this and get a conservative a leg up. I don't want to end up with a Romney or Pataki nominee. We need the right person, not just OUR person.

I'm just curious; why would someone with a "state party profile" come to FR for a contact to a presidential exploratory committee. Why not work through your state party?

Uh, Governor Mark Warner is a liberal Democrat understudy of Ted Kennedy.

Understandable... Virgnia also has a Republican Senator John Warner.

Warner? He's a liberal Democrat. You might have something with Owens.

I nominate...me. I'll be old enough. And I have no Vietnam draft skeletons, having been born in '71. I'm pro-life, anti-judicial tyranny, and I will call Robert Byrd "Sheets" to his face.

Oh, and my wife thinks I'm pretty good looking. Couldn't hurt.

If you are looking for a true conservative with momentum then Mike Pence in 2008 is your answer.

I don't think Pence has the political muscle. A conservative member of the House that's not in any major leadership position will not get it done.

I still think Owens would be the best - although he may not run.
