Campaigning rocker STING persuaded US TV presenter KATIE COURIC's rocker boyfriend to drop out of American President GEORGE W BUSH's inaugural celebrations, according to a new book.
In THE BLUE AND THE RED, author TOBY ROGERS claims Sting told trumpeter CHRIS BOTTI not to perform at today's (20JAN05) event, which will see Bush sworn in as President for a second term.
Rogers claims Sting told Botti, "You can't do it. You can't perform at the inaugural. It will ruin your career!" ....

So much for unity.

You have to have a pretty malleable mind to be talked into banging Katie Couric.

At least Sting is honest - boycotts by "artists" are done more for career advancement than principle. Its more important to get invited to the right parties than support the liberation of 50 million Arabs.

"Can you say "blacklist"? Can you say "McCarthyism"?"
Can you say "Political Casting Couch?"
The true question is when will those in the performing arts have the courage to get off the couch, pullup the pants and begin to think for themselves?
Artist USED to be nonconformists. Now all they can do is repeat the "company line".

"He said, 'Almost everyone I spoke to said not to do it, but I would have done it if I could have gotten out of those dates. I would play for any president that asks me.'"Puhleeeze. As if anyone couldn't get out of another engagement to play for the President's Inaugural.

Rogers claims Sting told Botti, "You can't do it. You can't perform at the inaugural. It will ruin your career!" Well, if Sting was just letting his friend in on the well known secret that the liberal entertainment industry would blacklist him and try to attack his livelyhood, then Sting was just being honest.

"KATIE COURIC's rocker boyfriend" "Sting told trumpeter CHRIS BOTTI not to perform"
Since when is a trumpeter considered a "rocker"?

Y'know, I wondered what was missing from Bush's inaugural celebrations. They just seemed so blah, so very disappointing. Now, of course, I know why...Chris Botti wasn't there to grace us with his talents. If only Chris Botti had been there, the inaugural celebrations would've been just wonderful. Everyone knows, you can't REALLY have a party unless Chris Botti performs. Oh sure, you could get other performers, but would they match up with Chris Botti? I think not.

Sting told Botti, "You can't do it. You can't perform at the inaugural. It will ruin your career!"I bet that what Sting actually said was more along the lines of "If you play at the inaugural, you'll never play for me again."
