The phenomenon of self hating Americans. I guess the socialists, communists, and the Tides Foundation are supporting these anti-liberation self hating Americans again.

Just ANOTHER example of what develops in an environment ALLOWED TO RUN FREELY BY LIBERALS -- turning anything of importance over to UNION-DOMINATED control (what is left of our government education system) with liberals at the helm -- well, here you go.

The NEA and Department of Education should be ABOLISHED and the system gutted, and rebuilt, eliminating any UNIONS and establish a system of FULL ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONTROL in our government schools.

Just call me a teacher for war. I know, sounds callous. . . except when it liberates.

All is not lost --

My daughter attends kindergarten in a Massachusetts public school (Metrowest Boston area).

Not only do they say the Pledge of Allegiance every day (including "under God"), and not only did she proudly show me that she knows it by heart, but yesterday she told me that George Washington was the first president of the US, that he chopped down the cherry tree and that he never told a lie.

I asked her where she learned that story, and she said her teacher told her. I didn't think they taught the cherry tree story in public school anymore, let alone in Massachusetts of all places.

Here is the problem with nO teachers union. It's a political job. I'm a teacher and I tell you it's all politics. If I didnt have a union I'd be kicked around all over the place. It's all cronies running the show.Eventhough my union is a joke I have a few basic protections. Without it I'd be at the mercy of the corrupt politicians who run the show.As it is the corruption in the school system in NJ is unreal. Without a union I could get fired for no reasn as soon as some big shot's kid wanted my job.

"Without a union I could get fired for no reasn as soon as some big shot's kid wanted my job."

You don't exhibit much self confidence in this statement. So you admit, you need a gang of thugs to keep your job! You need a bunch of communists to protect you.!

Strange the same group of people that want government to do everything also feel the need to be protected from the government.

Try living in the private sector and give us your sob story.

Well, in the real world, anyone can get fired based on politics. The problem is that incompetence is not an acceptable reason to fire teachers and school administrators. That is the fundamental problem with union influence, support for unions by liberal state governments who want AND GET their votes. This is why the whole system should be dismantled and teachers and administrators WHO ARE PUBLIC SERVANTS PAID BY THE PUBLIC should be held ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIER PERFORMANCE and keep their jobs BASED PURELY ON THEIR PERFORMANCE. Not freaking union membership which is exacltly what has DESTOYED CALIFORNIA'S SCHOOL SYSTEM.

no not at all.You really took my words and ran with them. The GANG OF THUGS is the Democratic party in NJ. Although our union is a joke it does offer some basic protections . You need to know the system in NJ before you open your mouth .I'm a Republican in NJ. Without a union they could fire my ass just on the fact that I dont back the current corrupt Dem mayor. I agree that there need be ACCOUNTABILITY for teachers ..Totally agree.BUT.IN NJ school system it's who you know /who's ass you kiss politically. I have the son of a politician right now walking off the stree without proper credentials who was hired for a lot more than I make after 8 years. He has his own room , less classes than anyone else and given a fake after school job bECAUSE his dad is "a connected" guy . His sister is coming in and they are looking to "make room " for her. Me being fairly new at 8 years could be next to go for no other reason than HE wants his daughter in the system.I have some protections there..Thats all Im saying .

" keep their jobs BASED PURELY ON THEIR PERFORMANCE. Not freaking union membership " I agree , except that in NJ you keep your job based on buying tickets to Dem. functions and kissing the mayors ass. We have "leave you alone ' dinners here in NJ.You go to the Dem function , they "leave you alone ". You ring doorbells and get people to vote Democratic , they "leave you alone"I dont do that and the union is the only thing stopping them from firing my Republican ass..Thats all I'm saying .

"Try living in the private sector and give us your sob story."

Why don't you try being a teacher and then make judgements about someone with a noble job trying to do a noble cause?

For that matter why don't you take over the union and run it your way and maybe she won't have those concerns!!!!!

Hudson High School Ping.

Why? Sheldon Berman's "Educators for Social Responsibility" is involved in this conference. Sheldon Berman is the super of schools in Hudson as well as co-founder and board member of ESR.

http://www.esrnational.org/aboutesr.htm

Given that, I wonder how many Hudson teachers are going? Now of course they have a right to go, but it would be nice to know how many went and if they are bringing antiwar teaching back with them from their Classroom Resources Workshops.

It's illegal in Massachusetts to teach one's political views in the classroom, so students and parents should be aware of who gets this special training to teach antiwar issues in the classroom.

Not everyone I pinged is from Hudson, but you all chimed in at one time or another on other HHS threads.

In hindsight I should have become a teacher. I would love to be home every night instead of constant travel. I would love to have the summers off. Nobel cause?? Get real! It is a good job with good hours and benefits.

And for your beyond stupid question regarding "taking over a union" how does one respond to such stupidity? Why on earth would a person working for the government, which passed thousands of labor laws, need to be in a union? I would not want to be associated with such low life debris.
