Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the skies. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.
Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep, May the soldier or sailor, God keep. On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go, When the day, And the night Need thee so? All is well. Speedeth all To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar Goeth day, And the stars Shineth bright, Fare thee well; Day has gone, Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days, 'Neath the sun, Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky, As we go, This we know, God is nigh.

What a thoughtful gesture. Just from my military background, I would say, contact the Ft Benning Chapel. I would bet the clergy would be able to get a message to the family or tell you if an account has been set up for the kids. Another thought would be to ask if an account could be set up for such donations. I have no doubt that folks would love to give to the family for one of our finest. Let me know either on the thread (so other may participate) or Freepmail me. Awesome comment, thank you.

God Bless the members of our Armed Forces and their loved ones! They have suffered immensely and continue to surrender their lives to the battle of freedom and democracy! Prayers sent heavenward for this family and all who have lost their loved ones.

Heavenly Father, we return with tear-stained hearts to thank You that we can add our gratitude for the life of this brave warrior. May it be, Merciful Father, that You will raise up a brave new nation in Iraq ... that the people will embrace liberty and freedom with the same zest and zeal that under girds the founding of our beloved country. And may it be, O God, that this love of freedom will flow for generations to come ... because Sgt. First Class David J. Salie lived and worked and died among them. Comfort those who mourn his death ... sustain those who celebrate his life ... encourage those who know that he is not gone, but gone before unto the day of joyous reunion. In the Name of Jesus, we praise You for men such as these. Amen ...
