Police arrested a North Liberty man Sunday after he allegedly chased and threatened his neighbors with a sword while nude.
Curtis Donald Rarick, 44, of 245 S. Front St., was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine upon conviction.
According to police: Officers were called to a residence on Front Street for reports of an altercation. The victims told police Rarick was in his front yard naked and became upset when they told him to put some clothes on. Rarick then went inside his residence, retrieved a sword with a 2-foot 6-inch blade and chased and threatened his neighbors on their property.
Rarick posted $2,000 bail and was released from Johnson County Jail Monday, court records show. Raricks home phone number is unlisted and court records did not indicate if Rarick has yet retained a lawyer.
Let's just call it a flagpole
Somehow I think of Barney Fife. :o.
Frontal nudity?
In our neighborhood, we just ignore it....'happens so much lately.
Can't reporters write about something new and unusual.
:o)
Of course.
Well, naked outdoors in late February, in Iowa (not FL, albeit not MN, either), for reasonably prolonged time to be noticed and to start altercation. Weird.
Not to get off track here, but that is a bowie knife, not a sword. As to his being naked, that is another matter.
Isn't it still pretty cold in Iowa these days?
South Liberty, too, it sounds like.
Plus he had a sword.
The Mayor: Intent? How did you establish that?
Harry Callahan: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross.
Old lady lost in the city
In the middle of a cold, cold night
It was fourteen below and the wind start to blow
There wasn't a boy scout in sight
Pull down the shades cause he's comin'
Turn out the lights cause he's here
Runnin' hard down the street
Through the snow and the sleet
On the coldest night of the year
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Old lady head up toward Broad Street
Shufflin' uptown against the wind
She had started to cry-wiped a tear from her eye
And looked back to see where she had been
Old lady stand on the corner
With a purse in her hand
She does not know but in a minute or so
She will be robbed by a naked man
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Old lady lean against a lamppost
Starin' down at the ground on which she stand
She look up and scream
For the lamplight's beam
There stood the famous Naked Man
He say, "They found out about my sister
And kicked me out of the Navy,
They would have strung me up if they could.
I tried to explain that we were both of us lazy
And were doing the best we could."
He faked to the left and he faked to the right
And he snatched the purse from her hand
"Someone stop me," he cried,
As he faded from sight,
"Won't nobody help a naked man?"
"Won't nobody help a naked man?"
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Beware, beware, beware of the Naked Man
Randy Newman
Must be a slow news day.:0)
I suspect that he won't have the `nads to do that again.
Did he claim it was the sword of truth or was he just happy to see the neighbors?
Benny Hill used to refer to it as a friendly weapon.
What is it about naked men and swordplay?
