Capt. Alan McKewan, left, a civil affairs officer, and translator Abdul M. Hussain, approach a mock Afghan village at Fort Bragg, N.C., on Friday to deliver humanitarian aid during the "Braggistan" training exercise. More than 3,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team will deploy to Afghanistan in the spring.
The closest real "Afghan village" was located somewhere in suburban Michigan which was simply not viable for training purposes for Troops stationed in North Carolina.
Staff Sgt. Russell Cox, of Claremont, N.H., hugs his wife, Beth, after returning home from Iraq on Sunday with the Concord, N.H.-based 744th Transportation Company.
In certain parts of New Hampshire Sunday it was Russell Mania!
Lt. Chad Albod, of Strike Fighter Squadron 151 (VFA-151), kisses his girlfriend, Tasha Beck, after arriving at Naval Air Station, Lemoore, Calif., on Monday. Pilots from squadrons VFA-151, VFA-137 and VFA-2 returned from a five-month deployment aboard the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln.

Sgt. 1st Class Harold Washington sits atop a mound of duffle bags at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, while changing his boots. More than 1,500 transient troops made their way through the base between Feb. 22 and Feb. 26, pushing the base to a 190 percent occupancy rate. Officials with the 376th Expeditionary Services Squadron shut down the base fitness facility as well as various recreational areas in order to house the visitors.
The Military's Kyrgyzstan vacation resort for Troops has been an overwhelming success and the waiting lists are breaking all time records.
Soldiers catch up on sleep at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, on Saturday.
How did you sleep last night?

Units like Gordons at Bagram and Kandahar airfields recently received Kevlar vests for their military working dogs. The handlers have been working with the dogs to acclimate them to the vests.
Someone got left out of the Iditarod this year.
Journalist 2nd Class Barbera Silkwood, a Seabee assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four Zero (NMCB-40), emerges Friday from muddy water after going under a log obstacle during the endurance course at the Jungle Warfare Training Center at Camp Gonslaves on Okinawa, Japan. The endurance course part of a week-long jungle skills training class.
Unlike the MSM, at least in the Military the journalists get to sling real mud.
A group of Iraqi civilians wait on the hard shoulder to be frisked as US soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment inspect their vehicles during a patrol looking for insurgency on the outskirts of the Muslim Sunni northern restive city of Mosul.
Warning objects in mirror are closer than they appear.
Just another day at the office for our Troops.
