TAMPA, Fla. - Terri Schiavo's parents asked a Pinellas court judge Monday to allow her to divorce her husband - in either life or death - in a court filing accusing Michael Schiavo of adultery and not acting in his wife's best interests.
The filing was one of a flurry of 15 motions filed by Bob and Mary Schindler as they now have less than three weeks to find a legal way to keep their severely brain-damaged daughter alive.
Terri Schiavo is scheduled to have the feeding tube that has kept her alive for 15 years removed March 18 unless her parents can convince an appeals court to block Michael Schiavo again. Michael Schiavo says he will have the tube pulled because his wife once told him she would never want to be kept alive artificially.
David Gibbs, the Schindler's attorney, said Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer has indicated he will not hear the divorce request and five other motions filed Monday - but that only means that the matters are now on their way to being appealed to the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland........

A difficult concept for some, it seems.
Rosalyn Carter once said in her sincere look that Ronald Reagan made the people comfortable with their own prejudices. I say that the increasingly popular Michael R. Schiavo makes the American people comfortable with their own inner demons.

Absolutely unnecessary. Michael lives for himself. I believe what Terri's friends and brother said: Terri couldn't stand being married to Michael anymore and wanted a divorce. What we've seen him be/act like is just the tip of the iceberg. Imagine how ugly and dark his soul truly is...after seeing how he is with his public mask, I can't imagine what his secret thoughts are.
A person I know, Catholic educated, repeated that "quality of life" argument to me the other day. It mattered NOT that Terri was not hooked up to a machine that might be considered extraordinary means. It was Terri's quality of life. It unfortunately did not bother my friend that Terri would be STARVED. "If I find myself in Terri's shoes, starve me and turn up the morphine."

A conditioning process, definitely. Human life is becoming less and less valuable for it's mere existence than what it can produce.
OTOH, scumbag criminals are not productive in our society, but murderers, thugs, and rapists have friends and supporters with the ACLU, etc.
It makes no sense to me.
You might notice one modality in the folks who support Terri's offing -- they are self-driven control freaks. They demand complete control of all their choices and happenings of life.
Having the responsibility of caring for a person long-term -- to give up so much of one's life to do so -- seems impossible to them, so scary, that they treasure the "bring me the dynamite" options of life, where such are available. Like in offing the bedridden, the addled, the cranky and crazy, the sickly, the barely-responsive burdens. That's just one modality --- there are others as well, other reasons why people side with the "loving" husband.
And that lover-boy? What is his motive? Very strange, imo.
When I was pregnant with my second child, the doctor asked if I wanted to have a test taken, to see if there was something wrong with it. I asked why would I want to do that? He said, in case there was, I could know and decide whether or not to terminate the pregnancy. I said, I would not take that test; I would not terminate the pregnancy. I do not want to know anything, because then I'd be putting my faith in doctors' tests and not God's Will. If I had a handicapped child, mentally or physically, then God would help me take care of that child. And in the meantime, I could still pray that I would have a healthy child. The doctor looked at me like I was crazy. My child was born healthy. I thank God for that, but I know if my child had problems, He'd help me, and my child through those. All life is valuable and created by God.
Yeah go to google and type in Michael Schiavo and looked at the link on the top right - "Right to Live" and then look where it takes you and what the article says.

your post brought tears....it's truly awful what Terri is enduring at the hands of such a monster and because of Judge Greer.
I think you are exactly right. It is a shame in this modern world, people so easily feel they are burdens, and other people are so quick to see that way.
We wouldn't want the judge to feel any more discomfort now, would we?

I don't even know what the test was; it was a new kind of test, I believe. 1987. Whatever new test there was. But the reasoning behind it was in case I wanted to terminate the pregnancy....so, it was probably early on in the pregnancy. This same test wasn't an "option" earlier. I also understand it has become a normal test now--but I still don't even know what it was. If he had suggested a test as a means for better/special treatment while pregnant, to improve the risks for health, etc., I wouldn't have minded; but it seemed more of just a detection and used for possible termination, as that was his only suggested purpose.
For those who claim to be defending Florida law...Hey pc93, isn't there a Florida law you've cited that would prevent taking out the feeding tube in the first place?
by earlier, I meant like back in 1984 or so.
