TERRI SCHIAVO MARCH 2005 DAILIES Fla's Til of the Hun Sets March Date to Starve Terri

Terri's Freepers,

Judge George Greer denied Terri's parents' Motion for a Stay to protect their daughter's life while there are still pending issues in this LIFE AND DEATH MATTER. In addition the Department of Children and Family Services made a surprise visit to the court hearing the other day and asked Judge Greer if they could approach the bench. Judge Greer denied DCF the opportunity to speak. DCF asked for 60 days to conduct a complete investigation of allegations that have surfaced in the form of a Complaint to their agency.

What was set in motion instead? On Friday, February 25th, Judge Greer REFUSED TO issue another Stay because he was "not comfortable" issuing a say to protect a Ward of the State but instead "set a date certain" (on his calendar at least, not on mine) to BEGIN THE BARBARIC, ANTI-AMERICAN, STARVATION-DEHYDRATION SLOW MURDER OF TERRI.

Attorney Gibbs for Terri's parents held a press conference after J. Greer's order that was so tastefully written to indicate that "he was giving the Schindlers until March 18th so they could "prepare for Last Rites." Attorneys Gibbs called this ruling and prior rulings "Hitler-resque". Indeed.

If Judge Greer wasn't LEGALIZING EUTHANASIA in his courtroom, why any need for Last Rites? Greer's urgency to fulfill this killing places urgency on every one of us to lobby Governor Bush, Florida's House and Florida's Senate.

A Judge in America is ordering the manner of someone's death, a disabled woman who is healthy but needs rehabilitation.

Time is short so we don't really have time to get into Greer's mind to see why he is Florida's Til of the Hun.

What can we do?

Finally, the Pope has no Living Will. He will be SAFE as long as he stays away from George Greer's courtroom. The Pope is in our thoughts and prayers and he knows of Terri. He wants Terri to be freed from oppression and from a painless death by starvation-dehyration.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO EVERY DAY, THE PAY ISN'T VERY GOOD BUT THE FRINGE BENEFITS ARE THE GREATEST. You are Great Americans and liberty is Terri's and freedom from oppression. Freepers, that is the big payoff if we continue our daunting task.

Why the rush to kill Terri?
Re: Schiavo case.

Why is it that the St. Petersburg Times, the courts and others are so interested in starving Terri Schiavo to death, when her parents are willing to care for her? Despite their differences, no one ever thought Sarah Scantlin would ever speak again after 20 years of being kept alive with feeding tubes.

There are many reasons to question Michael Schiavo's great desire to end his wife's life when it is against her religion and her parents' wishes. She is in no pain and would be no burden to him. He has moved on with "a significant other" and two out-of-wedlock children. Why is the court not interested in pursuing his motives and giving guardianship to her parents? Is society so eager to kill?

-- Margaret McPike, Clearwater
Another view of Michael Schiavo
In a recent report, one of the protesters bears a poster pleading: "Michael, give Terri back to her parents." The clear implication is that Michael Schiavo wishes to hasten the demise of his wife to be able to go on with his own life. I am deeply saddened by the fact the poster bearer does not even consider the more likely alternative explanation: that Mike Schiavo, as a loving spouse, feels obliged to honor the expressed desire of his wife not to have her death and suffering unnecessarily prolonged by a family unable to come to terms with her passing, and by the cynicism of right-wing politicians hiding under a "prolife" cloak one of the most radical and cruel antilife agendas.

This simple and legitimate shift of perspective would make of Mike Schiavo a hero who has endured virulent criticism and has been made an outcast by his own social and religious community to be truthful to his marriage vows!

For your information, I am a practicing Roman Catholic and a Democrat for life who is opposed to abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide and capital punishment under all circumstances. The Schiavo case has nothing to do with protection of life or euthanasia: The issue is whether each person has the right to manage his/her own death.

-- Lodovico Balducci, M.D., Tampa
Give Terri to those who love her
Two groups claim guardianship rights over Terri Schiavo. Michael wants her dead, as soon as possible. The Schindler family wants her to live, hope she recovers and pledge to care for her indefinitely. The Schindlers love for Terri is crystal clear from the depth and persistence of their words and actions, in the face of all odds.

The court knows of Michael's relationship with another woman. This extramarital affair presents a clear conflict of interest to Terri's welfare, and should long ago have disqualified him for contention as guardian. In contrast, the Schindlers' repeated, desperate attempts to preserve Terri's life show their unwavering love. The Schindlers' claim is pure, sincere and just. Michael's claim is specious. What would Terri say about Michael's girlfriend? What would you say if you were her?

The default legal ruling should be for life, not death. This case hinges on an alleged comment by Terri to Michael about not being kept alive artificially. This statement could easily have been misunderstood. The phrase "artificial life support" means many things to various people. None of the Schindlers say they ever heard Terri say anything like what Michael said he heard. While the court correctly sided with husband Michael's impression of Terri's wishes, Michael's subsequent behavior has severely strained his credibility and sincerity. Terri and Michael are effectively divorced in every way except for a formal decree. Terri's welfare should therefore be entrusted to those who still love her.

-- John K. Stenard, St. Petersburg
Parents should let go
Here's a headline I would like to see: "Judge Greer orders Schiavo's parents into counseling."

I do not have children but I do have a degenerative disease and a mild handicap and there are many days when I don't enjoy living one bit in this body. I have said many times that were I to degrade into Terri's condition, my own mother would be holding my husband's hand as he pulled the plug for me.

From my viewpoint, Terri's parents have lost all perspective and further motions should be met with orders that they undergo counseling to let go.

-- Joan Kilpatrick, St. Petersburg
Ask someone who knows
Re: In Kansas recovery, hope for Schiavo? Feb. 25.

Your article compared Kansas resident Sara Scantlin, who suddenly began to talk in January after 20 years in a coma, with Florida's Terri Schiavo. There was plenty of expert medical input for the article, but one expert opinion was noticeably absent.

While those experts may know a lot about brain damage, none of them has ever experienced it. Now that Sara Scantlin can speak again, why not have a reporter ask her what it was like for those 20 years? Was she aware of the world around her? Could she feel? Does she wish they had pulled her feeding tube long ago? And most important, what does she think of the Florida's plan to starve Terri Schiavo to death starting in a few weeks?

I believe it is said that the current Mrs. George W. "Haman" Greer works for the St. Petersburg newspaper, or is it Mrs. Douglas Baird who is at that paper?

Attorney: Claims of Schiavo abuse bogus
The lawyer for Terri Schiavo's husband says there's nothing new in a DCF move to investigate abuse allegations.
By WILLIAM R. LEVESQUE and WES ALLISON
Published March 5, 2005

CLEARWATER - State officials received 89 abuse complaints about Terri Schiavo in previous years and none were found to be credible, her husband's lawyer said Friday.

Attorney George Felos did not detail the complaints made to the Department of Children and Families, saying he had been considering releasing them to reporters but questions remain about whether they are confidential.

Felos' comments came the day after reporters obtained a copy of DCF's motion to intervene in the Schiavo case to investigate the latest abuse and neglect complaints it has received.

The DCF petition said the agency had received 30 new allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of Schiavo, 41, who lives in a Pinellas Park nursing home.

"It's a disingenuous petition," Felos said at a news conference condemning DCF's move to intervene in the case. "I think it's double-speak. I don't think there's anything new in the DCF filing."

Felos represents Michael Schiavo, who is his wife's guardian. Felos called the DCF petition politically motivated.

An attorney for Schiavo's parents, meanwhile, again hailed DCF's move to investigate the latest abuse allegations. Attorney David Gibbs III said he had no idea who was behind the latest complaint received on a DCF abuse hotline.

"I think it's ridiculous to think it's politically motivated," said Gibbs, who said media attention moved the agency to act. "This case is probably one of the most-watched around the world."

Comments by the two lawyers came as Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer held a hearing on several scheduling matters. Greer will hold several hearings next week, starting Monday, on several pending motions, including whether new medical advances hold hope to show Schiavo is not in a vegetative state.

Greer also has scheduled a hearing Wednesday to consider DCF's motion to enter the case. The agency has asked for a 60-day stay to bar the removal of Schiavo's feeding tube while it investigates.

Without another stay, Schiavo's tube is set to be removed at 1 p.m. March 18.

Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Palm Bay, said a bill he plans to file on Terri Schiavo's behalf next week is picking up bipartisan support in Congress.

The bill, nicknamed Terri's Law, would allow federal courts to intervene, and Weldon contends it is written narrowly enough to pass Congress.

Under the terms of the bill, a person like Schiavo could be awarded legal representation in federal court only if the case meets four conditions: The patient must be incapacitated; the patient must have left no written medical directive; there must be a state court order to withhold food and water; and there must be dispute, as there is in Schiavo's case. A federal court could then determine if the patient's rights had been properly considered.

In an interview Friday, Weldon said he has promises from several Republicans and Democrats in the House to sign it, and two U.S. senators he declined to name are considering sponsoring it in that chamber.

"I think the circumstances on this case are sufficiently bothersome to justify this," said Weldon, who is a physician.

"I am kind of curious to see if anyone would really want to oppose this. After all, you're ... extending the same benefits to her that death row inmates get."

Congress is in recess until Tuesday. Weldon said he agreed to introduce the bill after being approached by Ken Connor, a lawyer and longtime conservative activist with strong Florida ties, who wrote the bill with a legal expert at Catholic University in Washington.

Connor represented Gov. Jeb Bush as Florida defended a hastily passed state law that allowed Bush to order Schiavo's feeding tube reinserted in 2003 after it had been removed for six days. The Florida Supreme Court, however, later declared the law unconstitutional.

I hope this is not an accurate description of what Weldon's bill would do! What good is it to ensure that "a federal court" decide whether "the patient's rights had been properly considered". All Felos has to do is find yet another federal court like the 2nd District Appeals to say "yes, they were considered" and nothing happens.

What is needed is something that will REMOVE HER from under judicial tyranny and into competent hands that can judge physical reality, NOT defer to another judge's "findings" just because he is a judge, out of professional courtesy and "stare decisis" or whatever they use as an excude.

If neglect or abuse can be proved, the state can take over guardianship from Michael Schiavo.

LIFE AND DEATH TUG OF WAR
Judge to hear abuse claims
in Schiavo case
State agency wants to probe
allegations against estranged husband

A Florida judge will hear arguments next week on whether the state's social services agency will be allowed to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case with an investigation of alleged abuse by her estranged husband.

Michael Schiavo won a court order in 2000 to have his severely brain-damaged wife's life-sustaining feeding tube removed, claiming she had expressed a wish not to live in such a condition. The order is to be carried out March 18 at 1 p.m.

But the Department of Children and Families has filed a petition, made public yesterday, that contains 30 new allegations of "abuse, neglect or exploitation."

The DCF said the allegations came through its anonymous abuse hot line.

Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer will hear the accusations, which include failure to investigate experimental medical procedures, denial of legal counsel, lack of communication and visitation and lack of therapy.

If neglect or abuse can be proved, the state can take over guardianship from Michael Schiavo.

The Schindlers have filed motions to remove their son-in-law as Terri's guardian, arguing he is her husband in name only and consistently has sought to withhold care and therapy. Michael Schiavo has been living for 10 years with fiance Jodi Centonze, with whom he has two children, and plans to marry her upon Terri's death.

At a hearing two weeks ago, his attorney, George Felos, said the DCF's attemp to intervene "reeks of political arm-twisting."

Yesterday, Nobel prize nominee Dr. William Hammesfahr issued a statement saying he had examined Terri Schiavo and believes her injury, hypoxic encephalopathy, is a type of stroke that he treats every day with success.

"There are many approaches that would help Terri Schiavo," he said. "I know, because I had the opportunity to personally examine her, her medical records, and her X-rays. It is time to help Terri, instead of just warehousing her. She would have benefited from treatment years ago, but it is not to late to start now."

Meanwhile, attorneys for Terri Schiavo's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, have filed a new motion claiming Greer made a reversible error in the 2000 trial that affected his determination of whether she would want to be keep alive in her present condition. The motion says Greer made a "clear mistake" when he discounted the testimony of Diane Meyer, who said that in 1982 Terri Schiavo told her she did not agree with the well-known decision by Karen Ann Quinlan's parents to take their daughter off life support.

Florida law allows for testimony of oral expressions of end-of-life wishes.

Terri Schiavo is not hooked up to any machines, but she requires a small feeding tube for nourishment and hydration. She collapsed under disputed circumstances Feb. 25, 1990, suffering severe brain damage when her heart stopped momentarily. Michael Schiavo attributes the collapse to an eating disorder, but her parents suspect he tried to strangle their daughter and insist that while mentally handicapped, she recognizes people and responds to stimuli.

The National Right to Life Committee is calling on Congress to enact a bill to be introduced by Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Fla., that would give the Schindler family access to a federal court to argue for the life of their daughter.

If she is indeed still as responsive as shown in these photos, what prevents her from taking in at least liquid nourishment?

What prevents her from doing so are the orders from the husband apparently that she not be given anything by mouth. He is afraid that it will be obvious to all that she can swallow and does not need the feeding tube.

It has been noted by nursing staff I believe that she has been seen to swallow. But since she cannot raise the cup or spoon to her own mouth, she depends on others to do it, but this is not allowed.

When they took away Diana's "Her Royal Highness", title then she was removed from the prayer list in all the Churches of England. The very morning of her death, the boys had to go to church, where they did not hear the priest pray for their mother.

And, by the way, Camilla is going to get the title, "Her Royal Highness"...all citizens will have to bow and curtsie to the adulteress!
