My sensitivity is to hypocrisy.

Keyes knew his daughter was lesbian but did nothng about it until she embarrassed him publicly.

He's not opposing her being a lesbian, he's opposing her being a publicly acknowledged lesbian. Big difference.

LOL.

Actually, the article stated that Keyes stopped talking to his daughter as well. And kicked her out of the house.

However, a transcript from an interview done recently reveals that the family is still speaking to each other. Thankfully.

A man who turns his back on his family, his own flesh and blood, for any reason, is no kind of man at all.

But I wouldn't disown my own flesh and blood unless they posed a danger to me or my family.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't either. However this girl is being used as a tool by the homosexual lobby and is going straight AT her father. She has to know it. Her coming out is making her family the issue.

I probably wouldn't still disown her but I don't know what all is going on here. Whatever it is the homosexual lobby is using her as a tool against the rest of society.

Yeah I saw that from the gitgo. And I would be thoroughly pissed at my daughter. IYR, during the GOP Convention in NYC some radical gay asked Keyes this question. I always wondered why they picked Keyes of all people (not knowing he had family and knowing he was such a small fish). Well your assessment 9A radical gay lobby connected with the DNC) probably instigated the whole interaction. But thankfully for the GOP there was no traction.

I was thinking more long term for them, when this whole mess blows over. BTW, I would cut off all financial aid to the university. I'd tell her, if she was my daughter, "Your group claims to love and support you more. They have used you to divide us so they will foot all your bills. See you at dinner Sunday. I love you and have a nice day."

#397.. Peach, I'll try to make this perfectly clear..

I never said there shouldn't be communication....the word I used is fund

..I hope to goodness there is communication, and I believe Keyes and his wife would keep the lines open in hopes of their daughter repenting/and turning back.

I never thought I lectured you in the first place, and although you're certainly entitled to your opinion, please stop with your interpretation of ideas/words I never expressed.

Maya Keyes is not entitled..to her father's financial support when he disagrees with her lifestyle.

Maya Keyes is not entitled to the largesse of their home when she spits in his face and causes her mom to cry.--She needs to grow up.

But if she repents/asks forgiveness, they would be the first to welcome her back, I'm sure.

I'm outta here!

You may also want to consider this:
"TODD: An aide to Alan Keyes tells CNN Maya worked for an Illinois political group run by Keyes and lived in a Chicago apartment paid for by that group. The aide says Maya and her father mutually agreed she should leave that group and therefore she's no longer eligible to live in the apartment. That was after Maya went to an anti-Bush protest during last month's inauguration."

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0502/14/wbr.01.html

Maya told the Washington Post Monday her parents kicked her out of the house and will not pay her college tuition. But a family friend has a very different take, saying Maya has been self-destructive and needs psychiatric help, not college. The friend says Maya has not been kicked out of the family home, but she is no longer welcomed to stay at the downtown Chicago apartment that Keyes and members of his new political organization use.

http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/021405_ns_keyesdaughter.html

And:

Last week, Maya and her girlfriend, Bria Murray, spent an afternoon discussing the fallout from Maya's speech, their relationship, politics, Alan Keyes, and what it means to be a queer anarchist.

http://www.metroweekly.com/feature/?ak=1468

It sounds like the issue exploded when she started becoming an activist for nearly everything her father is opposed to--after she publicly aligned herself with anarchism and accepted a public speaking engagement promoting homosexuality.
MAYA MARCEL-KEYES: He cut off all financial support, but that's something that I can totally understand. I am working for things that he's directly opposed to. It doesn't make much sense for him to be [financially] supporting someone who is working against what he believes in.

MURRAY: We're both anarchists. We don't believe in any sort of governmental system.

http://www.metroweekly.com/feature/?ak=1468

Now, suppose Alan Keyes continued to financially support his daughter, have her continue working for his conservative organization, continue living at an apartment paid for by this organization, all the while she is openly involved in homosexual and anarchist politics. Even she agrees that “doesn’t make much sense.”

But the media has to report this in melodramatic fashion, as tabloid fodder for their agenda. They need a right-wing target to shoot down. That’s all.

I have no problem with his cutting off financial support. It was the article (which now we think is incorrect based on a transcript provided uplink) which stated he no longer talked with his daughter. I found that disgraceful.

He has known she's a lesbian for years and years. But only when she speaks out about it does he cut her off. So he hasn't cut her off because she's a lesbian. Much as the so-called Christians on this thread would like to believe. He's cut her off because of her tactics and outspokenness.

Definitely clear:

Proverbs 13:24
He that spareth his rod hateth his SON: but he that loveth HIM chasteneth him betimes.

If daughters were to be included there was a perfectly useful word for "child" in Hebrew. It wasn't used.

I have still never had anyone quote a Biblical reference recommending the hitting of daughters. I have seen references to selling them and the owner hitting them.

Are these not your words:

"Peach, I guess you just called me a bigot and a mean un-Christian. That's sad. I'm seeing a whole different you from the one I see on ATRW. #10..I'm surprised at your statement. And I disagree with you."

#1. I never called you or anyone a bigot. Show me where I did that. I think it is you who is misinterpreting words I never said. Please stop.

#2. You said you are seeing an entirely different me based on my post in #10 which said I didn't want any part of Keyes Christianity if he's doing what he's purported to be doing in the article. That's not different from anything I've ever espoused on ATRW or anywhere else. Parents should not stop loving and talking with their children because they are gay, imo.

#3. I know that you mentioned funding. And I don't have a problem with his not funding her based on her rebelliousness. As I've stated repeatedly, I WOULD have a problem with any parent who cut off communication with a child because they were gay.

He has known she's a lesbian for years and years.

Maya has given confusing statements on when or what her father knew.

MW: Roughly how long has your father known you are gay?

MARCEL-KEYES: He's known since the end of high school. I graduated in 2003, so a couple of years now.

....

MW: Why was there no conflict while you were working on your father's campaign if he knew you were gay?

MARCEL-KEYES: Well, basically, I think my parents have never really accepted that I was queer. They thought it was a phase. As long as I was quiet about it and it was just them who knew, they could kind of try and push me back toward heterosexuality. But when I actually acknowledged it publicly, then it was sort of like "Oh, gosh, we can't be having that around here."

http://www.metroweekly.com/feature/?ak=1468

The fact is, we don't really all know the facts. And without the facts, it is presumptuous for us to judge this family one way or the other.

But none of us are entitled to know all the facts. So we can continue the gossip and speculation, or just leave the family to their own business.

My comments stand. If a family stops talking to a child because the child is gay, I find that disgraceful.

It's in no way an indication that I know the inner-workings of the family or am gossiping. Based on Keyes previous statements about the Cheney daughter, I would not have a difficult time believing that he would stop talking to his daughter just because she's gay.

However, in this thread there is a transcript that sounds like the family is still in communication and that's a good thing. And the daughter accepts that her rebelliousness has resulted in a loss of family financial support.

Let's just redo those bolded highlights:

MW: Why was there no conflict while you were working on your father's campaign if he knew you were gay?

MARCEL-KEYES: Well, basically, I think my parents have never really accepted that I was queer. They thought it was a phase. As long as I was quiet about it and it was just them who knew, they could kind of try and push me back toward heterosexuality. Hypocrisy.

If a family stops talking to a child because the child is gay

Since we don't know they DO NOT speak, and CNN says they DO speak, anything said beyond that is gossip. Might as well leave it alone. Wish the media would.

But considering that Maya complained the media wasn't listening to her, it is obvious they are using her, and will stick to sensational headlines to sell papers and their point.

adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20idolatry

Every single one of those applies to homosexuality, as I said when I posted it the first time.
Please do me a favor and read carefully next time so I don't have to repeat myself, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

While you're at it, why don't you point out the last time you told a drunk that he was going to Hell for his sin? Is not "drunkenness" among the above sins. Go ahead, enlighten me.

last night!

Consider yourself enlightened. :-)

Actually, you only asked for one passage from the New Testament that condemns homosexuality, but I gave you 2. Why did you skip over the first one in Romans?
