February 26, 2005 -- For a car that can go from zero to 60 in less than three seconds, the Saleen 7 is one hot set of wheels. But at a shriek-inducing $559,500, it's hardly a hot seller. The S7, which tops Forbes magazine's list of high-priced autos, is a race car that's been "tamed" for the billionaire impulse shopper.
Unfortunately, no one's biting.

Yah...I'm sure the Saleen would look great in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

I did not realize that today's 'Vette's were priced so reasonably for that kind of performance. They still do have that stigma attached to them, though, which Chevy never tried to deal with.

'38-'39 Chevy?
I bought one in slightly better condition 20 years ago and not only never finished redoing it, but never even started.

I own a BMW M5, which is the fastest production car on the planet. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds..
I own a Geo Metro which does 0-60 in 15 seconds.
I also own a motorcycle that would be looking at any of the cars discussed here in the rearview mirror 0-60.
Of course, at 58...I only drive it to church on Sundays. heh-heh....
I'm only a few years behind you and haven't bought my quickest bike yet (although the young and brave can have the top-speed runs).

I own a Geo Metro which does 0-60 in 15 secondsminutes. How about 0-62 in 5.6 and you can carry your friends across the mountains in the ice and snow!

Yeah, but $559,500 is so much better than $560,000...isn't it? :)

I gave up a volvo 740gle turbo wagon (212k) and an explorer xlt, and gained a volvo xc-90. It was considerably less than the Porsche to purchase, and to maintain... and I go into all types of terrain. I still dream about the Porsche, though this is no slouch!
