Almost 50 percent of Americans, according to recent polls, and millions of people elsewhere in the world believe that UFOs are real. For many it is a deeply held belief.
For decades there have been sightings of UFOs by millions and millions of people. It is a mystery that only science can solve, and yet the phenomenon remains largely unexamined. Most of the reporting on this subject by the mainstream media holds those who claim to have seen UFOs up to ridicule.
On Feb. 24, "Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" takes a fresh look at the UFO phenomenon. "As a journalist," says Jennings, "I began this project with a healthy dose of skepticism and as open a mind as possible. After almost 150 interviews with scientists, investigators and with many of those who claim to have witnessed unidentified flying objects, there are important questions that have not been completely answered and a great deal not fully explained."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" airs Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC. The program will be broadcast in High Definition.
This two-hour primetime special reports on the entire scope of the UFO experience from the first famous sighting by Kenneth Arnold in 1947 to the present day. The program draws on interviews with police officers, pilots, military personnel, scientists and ordinary citizens who give extraordinary accounts of encounters with the unexplained. Also included are the voices of professional skeptics about UFOs, including scientists who are leading the search for life forms beyond Earth elsewhere in the universe.
The program explores the facts behind the enduring mystery of the incident at Roswell, N.M., and looks into the strange stories of alien abductions. Among the UFO cases presented:
Minot Air Force Base, N.D., October 1968 Sixteen airmen on the ground and the crew of an airborne B-52 witness a massive unidentified object hovering near the base.
Phoenix, March 1997 Hundreds witness a huge triangular craft moving slowly over the city.
St. Clair County, Ill., January 2000 Police officers in five adjoining towns all independently report witnessing a giant craft with multiple bright lights moving silently across the sky at a very low altitude.
Today if you report a UFO to the U.S. government you will be informed that the Air Force conducted a 22-year investigation that ended in 1969 and concluded that UFOs are not a threat to national security and are of no scientific interest. But as one of the world's leading theoretical physicists says in the program, "You simply cannot dismiss the possibility that some of these UFO sightings are actually sightings from some object created by a civilization perhaps millions of years ahead of us in technology."
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs Seeing Is Believing" is produced by PJ Productions and Springs Media for ABC News. Mark Obenhaus and Tom Yellin are the executive producers.
Mogul has potential, but for all the calls fr corroborating evidence, they miss the bar. But for those who don't want to even WONDER about the subject, it's okay not to actually connect data in a meaningful way. It's a double standard, and it's bad science.
As I said, though, it pales in comparison to the idea that high altitude test dummies were the aliens people have testified to in the past. The dummies were not used, per the Air Force ITSELF, prior to the early 1950's. Not remotely July 1947.
Did an alien spacecraft crash on a ranch 75 miles from Roswell? I really do not know. But I am about as certain as I can be that the explanations offered by the military are not factual, and in truth are ludicrous.
"trust no one"
I have been here 21 years, and I have never heard of any. If they see things, it could very well be C-5s. Their landing lights are very strange to look at.
G'night, Quix.
Good night, all. May we all be safe in our beds from aliens, demons and snakebunnies ;-)
Thanks. That's a well known one
You'd better not tell how you got that picture of the Milky Way... If you know what's good for you...
Same to you and all...
Aye, G'night all.
"The next morning a friend of ours called to say that he had found two of his calves (in the same canyon) mutilated. Mr. RR (who was a volunteer member of the Sheriff's Posse) went out to view the scene. The carcasses of the calves had been evicerated, no blood at the scene, nor any blood left in the carcasses. They were lying in tall grass, which had not been trampled down by any natural predators. Another very strange thing.........there were no insects (flies) on their bodies."
I believe I have read that the evicerated cowk, bloodless, is common in south america too, brazil IIRC, and associated with UFO sightings.
Yes, and so is the collapse of our sun. Every 24 hours we are one day closer to that happening. Does that make it imminent? No, not really.
He knows it's getting closer, too.
Does he? In the same way he knows the sun is getting closer to collapsing? "No man knows the hour..."
Seriously, people have been predicting the end for 2000+ years. Many people in every generation have claimed that this time it really, really is the end.
"If one answers the fundamental question of why the vast majority of ufo's are seen at night, the subject becomes moot"
because they (whether military or other/extraterrestrial or whatever) fly at night on purpose to reduce visibility?
you make valid points, but fact remains there are some very strange things seen by multiple individuals which do not conform to any known public technology or science.
Although I've found UFOs fascinating my whole life, as a Christian I've long pondered how the two might mesh. In the past couple of years, I've done some reading on the theory that UFOs are actually Satanic/demonic manifestations. Those who support this theory point out how so many UFOs behave in ways that are not only beyond our technology, but also not compatible with the laws of physics as we understand them: instant, radical changes in direction at ultra-high speeds, blinking in and out of visibility, etc. Problems for actual physical craft, but not for demonic apparitions.
Some of those who support this theory also talk about ET abductions. The alleged abductees frequently report messages given them by their ET abductors, and oddly enough, these messages ALWAYS promote liberal/new age themes: We're destroying the planet. We're destroying each other. We need to learn to live in harmony with nature and with each other. Blah blah blah. Pretty strange that ETs would go to all the trouble to visit us for the purpose of promoting nonsensical ideas, eh?
On an even more relevant point, some abductees report being told that a time is coming when people with "bad vibrations," people who refuse to live in such a way as to bring their vibrations in sync with the planet, will be removed in order that the planet and all the "good people" might achieve their perfect state. Sounding like a cover story to me.
Oh, one more uber-interesting tidbit o'trivia: One demographic is conspicuously absent from the abductee pool. Seems there's not a single report of a Christian ever having been abducted.

Sorry, but that's an incredibly inaccurate position to take, even though it's taken with great regularity, because the meaning of this passage is totally distorted by taking a snippet out of context. Christ said "no man knows the HOUR," but He also commanded us to pay attention to the signs so that we would know the SEASON. People in prior centuries ignored one KEY element that could not possibly have been in place, the re-formation of Israel. IMO the rebirth of Israel in 1948 clearly signaled the start of the SEASON.
I don't know how long that season is, but signs are lining up like pieces on a chess board: The ever-shifting European realignment. The description of the times that is an exact description of the times we live in. Russia making rumblings in the Middle East. The list goes on and it's no longer a stretch to see the conditions being met. Common sense reading of the signs reveals a perfect match for the times.

And everything you just said has been repeated with a little variation as long as I can remember. Does "The Late Great Planet Earth" ring a bell? Perhaps some people just really want to believe that we are in the end times and interpret things the way they want to.
Why would an alien who evidently does not wish to be discovered leave an animal carcass (it has mutilated) around to be found?
Why would an alien take time to preform some weird operation on an animal(out in the open) when it would be simpler and less open to discovery to do it on-board its ship?
If they are so interested in studying cattle why don't they just swipe a few and breed their own?
Why do aliens have such a fixation with anal probing humans?
Why is Al Franken such a turd?
Why are there no answers to the questions that truly matter???? WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe they want to open up a Ruth Chris Steakhouse and are just practicing. It's either that or they are bovine necrophiliacs. Or they are so stupe that they believe because cows put out so much methane that they believe the cows are the intelligent life. But we know one thing for sure it is quite obvious that the aliens are not Hindus.
I hear you. . .actually tried to watch it. . .but was busy; caught some familiar dialogue since I had already 'gone there'; done the UFO bit. . .(which I don't discount' entirely);
. . . but for me 'terrorism' replaced the more imaginative.
Aliens kind of 'pale' in a world where suicide bombers plan their day.
Quix, you said,
'EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW; EVERY TONGUE CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We shall rule and reign with Christ over all that is in any dimension, any galaxy. The priority thing is to be WITH GOD and play by His rules laid out in The Bible.'
Thanks for that. May we never forget that Father God loves us; that His provision of a savior for all mankind still remains the Lord Jesus Christ; that we are to be of good cheer for He has overcome the world; and that He is with us always, even to the end of time.
When everyday life gets tipped on its head, may we still do justice and love mercy, may we still watch and pray for the Lord's return, may we all continue to call on the Name above all names, the Name of Jesus.
Maranatha, the Lord will return. Even so, return quickly, Lord Jesus.
