Being me a 23-year-old Catholic, he's been the only Pope I've seen in my life.

It'd be a big shock if he passes away, but my heart is ready when he's accepted to God's glory.

I have him in my thoughts and prayers, and if it's God's will to call him to His side, so be it, and I'll pray for a tranquil death. Or if it's God's will to keep him here leading the Church, then I'll pray for a speedy recovery.

Que se haga la voluntad de Dios.

Your comments are inappropriate for this thread in toto.

Who are you to presume anything about the Pope? Who are you to interject yourself onto this thread with your purposely insensitive comments about a world leader, head of the Catholic church that so many others are concerned and distraught about?

I think you need to say your prayers. For yourself. Big time.

This is one of my favorites of John Paul. What a great man he is. I pray for his recovery.

O Lord,
There comes a time
when standing and waiting and praying
our hearts grow weak,
our knees faint
as we wait for news
for our loved ones,
our dear ones,
the ones we look up to,
love,
know.

O Lord,
be there with us,
as we stand and watch.
Fill our tongues with the right words
to strengthen,
to pray,
and remind us
that you are in control,
and there will be healing,
here on earth,
or further down the road,
if we are but open to it.

Be with those
whose loved ones are in danger today,
be with those
who wait for the news,
be with those
whose hands do the work of healing.

Today,Lord,
Be especially with your servant John Paul
and those who treat him.

Keep us always mindful
of how near you are,
even when things seem dark.

Amen.

How wonderful for you---I am a very "intuitive" person also, but not as much as you from what you say---

If you feel his time is close, then we can pray that he will not be in pain as he goes through this illness--

You're right. If anyone will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, it has to be him.

I fear that he is worried about who will lead the Church when he is gone. That might be why he is holding on to this life, even with his pain and suffering.

There's only a couple reasons I can come up with that he would be getting a surgical airway this early:

1) Anticipated to be a very difficult orotracheal intubation due to anatomic factors

2) Attempted prior orotracheal intubations failed

3) Already orotracheally intubated, but tube diameter insufficient for ventilation and/or adequate suctioning

Usually, a tracheotomy is not necessary until about 2 weeks of orotracheal intubation, at which time vocal cord dysfunction becomes a concern. An early tracheotomy may be done in patients that are certain to need long-term ventilatory support, but that's not usually the case for something like pneumonia.

What the heck?

You don't think that the poor health of a man who leads the largest religion on the face of the earth and who freaking stared down Soviet Communism in the name of God Himself for most of his adult life isn't important?

WTH do you think IS important? Michael Jackson's trial?

Sheesh. O_o

My sincere prayers, as a Protestant, for the Holy Father as he undergoes surgery. If he leaves us, I will miss him a great deal. He did so much for Freedom, that all of Western Civilization should mourn his passing.

We're all equal in the eyes of the Lord.

Some of us have less malice in our hearts than others.

I'm a non-Catholic myself, but JPII is the only Pope I can remember being installed into the position of Pope. I was about 11 years old when JPII ascended to the Papacy.

Oh you are sooo young. :-)

I am 44 and remember when he became pope in 1978. No other pope had an impact on me like this one does. He is the one I will always remember!

You might try reading what he has published. Then you will have some idea. Do this rather than dismiss or wait until the hereafter.

Don't you have enough discretion to keep your gripe about the Catholic Church quiet on this day that might be the Pope's last? Why not show your fellow freepers a little charity?
