MILFORD, Neb. (AP) -- It took nearly four months, but to the relief of neighbors miles around, a burning manure pile has been extinguished.

David Dickinson, owner and manager of Midwest Feeding Co., said Wednesday that several weeks of pulling the 2,000-ton pile apart proved effective by late last week.

"We got far enough through it, that it quit," Dickinson said.

"In related news, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) is denying reports that he was singlehandedly responsible for dousing the flames, having been given the opportunity to relieve himself at the site after a long evening at a local pub."

Study on earthworm castings as a soil builder (North Carolina State University Extension
Cautions:
Always be careful when handling manures of any kind. Never use any manure which is not fully composted.

Large compost piles can spontaneously combust. Keep tabs on the temperature of large piles.
Keep them away from dry forests or grasslands.

"Wet or damp grain in storage will do the same thing, unless stirred or run through a grain blower. Enough heat buildup, and the grain will explode."

In the book "The Day of St. Anthony's Fire" a situation was described in France in 1951 where some kind of grainbin had a spontaneous generation of LSD.

It was then used in bread baking, and other food preparation, causing horrific, and sometimes deadly reactions.

That pile just had to come from Washington. DC (DNC) is so full of it the overflow had to go somewhere.
