No Media Interest in Secret Clinton Tapes?
The New York Times thought it was front page news on Sunday when they obtained secret recordings of presidential candidate George Bush sharing a few personal insights, like admitting that he once tried marijuana.
But the Times and the rest of the prestige press don't seem particularly interested in another set of secret tapes, recorded while one of the participants actually occupied the Oval Office. Only last June, former White House paramour Monica Lewinsky revealed that she's sitting on a stash of never-before-heard tapes of her own - recordings of President Clinton whispering sweet nothings into her answering machine.
At the time, Lewinsky actually threatened to make the tapes public, telling London's Daily Mail:
"If I chose to, I could bring out . . . the messages on the answering machine tapes that no one's heard. I could make it into something big to try to demonstrate that this wasn't just inappropriate intimate contact - that it really was something."
Really something?
Whatever Mr. Clinton said on those still secret recordings, it doesn't sound like Monica's tapes are going to be particularly helpful to Hillary's 2008 presidential campaign.
But if the Times or any of their American counterparts are interested, they have a strange way of showing it. The US media has yet to print a single word about Monica's secret tapes.
Is she high profile enough to be safe?
It'd be a hoot had there been an Oval Office Webcam at the time...
Hey Monica, put them up for sale on e-bay. I bet there will be some interest.
better yet, use the tapes to make 1-900 dirty talk with Bill. Liberals would call by the thousands.
I remember when Paula Jones went on national television, and found it necessary to tell everyone that she was not suicidal, and was a careful driver, "just in case something happens to me". Monica Lewinsky may need to start thinking about taking precautions to ensure her own safety.
YUCK!
That would be waaaayyy too much information for me and could be damaging to both my eyes and my libido. . .
Linda Tripp had a lot of good reasons to do what she did involving self-protection. Going to discuss a book with Lucianne Goldberg was probably not a good idea, however.
I win yet another game of "I'll bet this is a NewsMax article by the headline".
ping
How did I miss this?
Well...that was different! <>g<>
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
Apparently
They weren't much interested in the tapes that Jennifer Flowers had either.
It was not the very same thing.
Tripp only started taping once Monica started confiding scandalous information and wanted her to lie under oath.
Wead was taping secretly purely for opportunism and personal gain. (Though I take satisfaction that the libs have to deal with the fact that GWB is indeed the same person whether in private or public.)
Wead's motivation was strictly monetary!
So true.
