An American soldier overseas is fuming over letters he received from Brooklyn middle-school children accusing GIs of destroying mosques and killing civilians in Iraq.

Pfc. Rob Jacobs of New Jersey said he was initially ecstatic to get a package of letters from sixth-graders at JHS 51 in Park Slope last month at his base 10 miles from the North Korea border.

That changed when he opened the envelope and found missives strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.

Hi trussell,
I posted on this thread this morning before I went to work.
I told my kids about it and my 12y/o daughter said:"Who in their right mind would do something that mean to one of our soldiers.I was really happy when we were sending X-mas cards or letters to our soldiers.Those kids were really stupid."
My daughter was so angry she wanted to e-mail the teacher and principal for being so ignorant and for allowing it.
She also said that the teacher must have known,because when they wrote their letters,the teacher asked for a rough draft to be handed in to her.
The rest of this is in my other post.I just wanted to share with everyone that even my 12y/o was outraged and knew that the teacher had something to do with it.

This is so sad that the soldier had to get such hateful letters! He deserves to be hugged, and thanked for risking his life for us, and instead he gets this!

My kids wish they could hug him...and tell him thank you! I hope someone finds a way to make this young man feel better!

Trussell I am back.My daughter is 12 and no she was not offended,she rather liked it.I thought it would be more personal if she thanked you and read your post.
She is hoping that we can get an address for the soldier so she can write him.
She is very passionate about these things.I think it has to do with being exposed to FNC since she was little.We didn't hide the fact and happenings on 9/11 from either of our kids,she was only 8 at the time,but she was not really scared that it could happen to her.
We have always encouraged our kids to ask questions and question things they hear in school.So far we have done well raising kids that are aware of what is going on in this country.They are not easy to indoctrinate.

One of the things that kinda sorta tickled my funny bone is that the kids complained about soldiers in Iraq, then were ignorant enough to send it to a soldier in Korea instead.

Yeah - thank God it didnt' go to one of our guys or gals in the Sandbox or Afghanistan. At least the folks in Korea have a little more access to the real world and hopefully have a better chance to know that these kids are in the minority. I know if one of our favorite active duty FReepers in Korea got it they would know better....

Yes she is very mature for her age.~sigh~
Makes me worry sometimes,but she has a level head on her shoulder.
I am proud of her for standing up to others that say any thing bad about our soldiers or president.
She doesn't ape us,but formulates her own thoughts in which
she defends in what she believes.
She was right when she told you that she is a good girl(most of the time)LOL

My step son is in the Marines...he arrived in Ramadi about a week ago...things seem to be heating up there....although his last email 4 days ago said things were quiet. He is in Udays Palace....I will try to post pics when he sends them.

I am teaching my daughter the differences in political choices...I am not pressuring her to choose my way...I am just letting her know why I believe the republicans are the right choice!

I have researched the choices made by democrats and republicans and helped her to understand what each issue is about...so far, she thinks President Bush is a better man than any other she has ever knows...including her grandfather!! LOL!

I still agree that yours is an awesome young lady!!
