Newt Gingrich is demanding that the Bush administration get serious about stopping illegal immigration. The former House speaker wants the United States to completely seal off its border along Mexico and Canada, deport illegal aliens within 72 hours of their arrest and exclude U.S. courts from reviewing such deportations. "Let's be serious about sealing off our borders or [else] have open borders," Mr. Gingrich told more than 1,000 cheering conservatives on Saturday.

Newt's financial backers are coaching him, they know that all-important conservatives can be energized via the illegals issue.
Soon Newt will be throwing out other political positions ---the ones Newt's financial backers want placed on the table.
Co-opting GWB, and US policy-making, is the name of Newt's game. Amazingly, Newt, and his backers, think Americans just fell off a turnip truck and can't see through this game.

Puh-LEEZE. If Newt had a pair, he'd have done something about it while he could have. Gingrich is a professor at best, a siphon for worthwhile dollars in the primaries at worst. He should STFU and go back to GOPAC and teaching. I'm weary of his electioneering attempts. There will be no President "Newt," and he's evidently the only person that doesn't know it.
If we DON'T jump on this (take the Newt track), it is a massive oppy for the rats in '08. We need to seal the borders AND the pubbie position re the borders.

State of Illinois Public Aid workers are instructed NOT to report illegals seeking public assistance to Dept Of Homeland Security. They are also suppose to assure the illegals that they will not be turned in. These people don't care. They know our government will continue to fail us. And they are right.
