Please pray for my 17 year old daughter's safety, that the Lord is watching over her and protecting her from harm. I just filed a missing persons report with the Columbus Police Department about an hour ago, when it became apparent that I was not going to get the usual call from her letting me know where she was.
I left for work at 10:45 am and the last thing she said was that she was going to get her hair cut. No e-mail, no phone calls to me throughout the course of the day, which struck me as odd, because we hadn't had any harsh words and life seemed to be great. I got off work at 9 pm and she wasn't home, which isn't unusual because she spends alot of time with Young Life. Hours passed, no phone call. By 2 I was nearly hysterical with worry. I have left messages on her friends' cell phones hoping for a call back. I am sorry to say that I was not able to give the officer a description of what she was wearing, only a picture.
This is SO out of character for this young lady. She's always been the responsible one, even though she has been suffering from Senior-itis this year and has tested the boundaries to the limit. I am so frightened thinking of the possibilities here that I don't know where to turn, and I would appreciate your prayers tonight. I am hoping that perhaps she told me she'd be sleeping over tonight at a friend's house, but I have racked my brain, and frankly, I just don't remember any conversation like that taking place. (I haven't had a day off in 3 weeks.)
Does she have a cell phone? If she does, and the account is in your name, you can go online and open an account - and then you can see all the phone calls that have gone out and perhaps come in today. It would let you know the last time a call went out or came in.
She may also have GPS on her phone, and if it is on, she might be able to be tracked through it. Call the cell provider for more information and tell them you have filed a missing person report...
Prayers and thoughts to comfort you as you spend an anxious night. I have 2 teenage daughters and appreciate your concern and worries. Please keep us informed.
Please keep us updated. These are anxious moments as when one of us has a child out there, it feels like we all do.
No she doesn't have a cell phone. She and her sister text-messaged the bill sky-high, and the account has been inactivated. You can bet that will be fixed tomorrow though!
I was seventeen not too long ago myself. I'm praying for her safe return to you and the Lord help you through this hard night. Let us know when she comes home. God bless.
Hey Dosers, I don't have a full list, but if you are up or when you get up please keep this young girl and her mom in your prayers.
Prayers lifted!
Does she have a credit card or a gas card?
Kay...will you use your ping list??
Does her sister have any ideas? Also, was she driving her own car or is someone else her usual transportation? Any new boyfriends on the scene? I have been through this before with my sons and literally, had someone watch the phone at home while I drove their usual routes to their usual haunts looking for their cars.
Prayers outbound.
I'm joining in prayer for your daughter's safe and prompt return.
Matt 18:20
Hello Sunshine.
1. Did you check to see if your daughter got her hair cut at the usual place?
If she did; then your daughter went missing after the hair appointment.
2. Does your daughter have credit cards?
If so, you may want to call the credit card company(ies) and explain the situation.
3. I take it your daughter has a computer since you said "no emails." Go look at the computer if it's in the house and not with your daughter. Check the emails and check the internet history. If your daughter has email access elsewhere; send her an email now.
4. Call the local hospitals and check to see if anyone came in the hospital who might match your daughter's description.
5. If you have someone at your home to listen for the phone (or if you have call forwarding); then trace the typical routes your daughter might drive. Look around and see if you see her car. Since it is night time, take someone with you or wait until morning.
I am praying for you and your daughter right now.
Also, Young Life has adult advisers who might be aware of people she was hanging out with when they last saw her.
Paying, Dear Friend!
Er, Praying!
No credit card, no gas card. She has a boyfriend by he is away at college in Pittsburgh. I have called his parents and got no answer, so I don't know if they are bringing him home this weekend or what, but if she had gotten the bright idea to go with them, her car would be at his house and she would have let me know. He isn't on AIM this late so I can't ask him if she mentioned where she was going tonight. There is a sorority-type house called the Tree House on the OSU campus, where 2 of her Young Life counselors live, but I have no idea what the address is nor do I know their last names.
Prayers...
Right you are. You got it!
I'm sure she is testing those boundaries . Party's can run late.
