Friends no more? I hope Sen. Hillary Clinton isn't counting on help from Hollywood mogul David Geffen in her possible run for the White House in 2008. Geffen, a generous supporter and pal of Bill Clinton when he was President, trashed Hillary's prospects last night during a Q&A at the 92nd St. Y. "She can't win, and she's an incredibly polarizing figure," the billionaire Democrat told his audience. "And ambition is just not a good enough reason." Geffen's dis was met with hearty applause.
Don't ya love it when they eat their own!
And they seem pretty damn hungry lately....eat boys eat...
It's not only WHAT Geffen said, it's WHERE he chose to make the statement...Coming into Manhattan..Hillary's back yard..to throw down the gauntlet..
Geffen wants his lover, Algore, to get the 2008 nod.
Something tells me that Geffen carries about as much weight with the Democratic Party as Calista Flockhart carries, period.
Ya sure, you betcha...wait until 2007 and the only prospect they have for the presidential race is Dean the Screamer or a warmed over Kerry. These power hungry megalomaniacs will resurrect Hillary! faster than it takes Bill to drop his pants.
Sure she's a polarizing figure but by the next presidential campaign she will have won another term in the senate (running as a center-lefty) and you won't recognize her as the media gives her a complete policy makeover.
Is the Y.M.C.A. still a hang out for homosexuals?
With Geffen, I don't think it's "eat boys eat". More like "boys eat boys".
I assume your query was for pissant...
I assume redIdaho's post got pulled. What was the "clean" version.
"Free Man in Paris" Geffen, one of many Demo-sugar daddies.
I think it was L. Ingram (`Shut Up & Sing'?, maybe AnnC) who wrote that the average Republican contribution to the 2000 presidential campaign was about $50, and from people who make their own beds. Strange--the Dems won't release their figure.
Wonder how much longer the Dems can float the stereotype of conservatives as brandy-swilling, cigar chomping plutocrats.
The 92nd St. Y isn't a YMCA -- it's Jewish "Y".
No matter how much sway Geffen carries. He is of Hollyweird and that's the crib from which the Rats get alot of their cash.
Maybe Geffen is really is Kerry supporter. Maybe he is looking for the VP nod. Just think, the bumper stickers would be "F'en and Geffen in '08!"
I really did not know that, sorry if I offended anyone.
Actually, this looks like someone who is a realist.
He is seeking a winner, same philosophy, same politics, same culture, but a winner.
He simply doesn't believe his money would be wisely invested in a Hillary candidacy.
Last thing Reps need is for the Dems to become realists!
"Geffen's dis was met with hearty applause."
Them's the nicest words I've read all day. The sharks are smelling blood :) Who will be the next dem to jump on the anti-Rodham bandwagon? Also...will her so-called move to the center get her in trouble with NY voters?
She can get enough of the women's vote to win if the Republicans run a RINO. That's how her husband won.
Nothing but a temper tantrum looking for attention. Knows he'll support Hill and knows its early enough to paper over diff's and knows it will put the fear of tantrum into Hildebeast if she runs too far right.
