News Alert: On January 13, a federal judge in Georgia ruled that stickers placed in textbooks of an Atlanta area school district saying Evolution is a theory, not a fact are unconstitutional! ( View sticker.) According to this judge, such criticisms of evolution are an endorsement of religion. The judges action is the latest example of the nationwide effort to ban any critical analysis of the theory of evolution and insist that evolution be taught as the only option!
The Action: The Center for Reclaiming America has launched a national petition to rally 100,000 citizens immediately to oppose this federal court edict and insist that evolution be taught as a theory, not fact, in our schools. The Our Kids Deserve The Truth petition has three goals:
- INSIST that evolution be taught as a theory, not a fact.
- DEFEND school administrators, teachers, parents and students that stand up for truthful teaching about evolution.
- SUPPORT legislative and school board efforts to ensure that our kids are taught the truth about evolution and promote
Objective Origins in school curriculum. We are also launching a national awareness campaign targeting millions with the Our Kids Deserve the Truth message. Also, through this grassroots effort, we want to empower citizens with the resources they need to effectively challenge school boardsleading them to adopt the Objective Origins curriculum. |

You forget that Denver federal court that ruled that schools do NOT have to educate the kids. Parents who kids graduate and cannot read have no standing to sue apparently.

"You forget that Denver federal court that ruled that schools do NOT have to educate the kids." Those on this thread mock God, creation, and prayer in school.
But you draw a direct timeline from the early 1960's when prayer was banned and abortion was legalized to the downfall of morality and goodness in the heart of the average American and the rise in murder, rape, homosexuality, lawlessness, gangs, and corruption in government (especially local-level government).
Take God out - something has to take His place.

I read something very interesting the other day about a mamals inner ear evolving twice. That indecates some mechanism at work. There is a lot of inconclusive evidence supporting something like evolution. Gravity on the other hand is a slam dunk. I personally do not think evolution should be taught as scientific fact, but rather as our current best guess, something is going on but until we understand the mechanism better keeping an open mind should be encougaged.

I agree with what John Derbyshire has said. We should also place stickers on books that say "Intelligent Design is a critique, not a theory".

Nah. By letting everyone see the errror it's easier to discredit the stickers.

once the bullet leaves the barrel it will accelerate in the direction of the forces acting upon it, since the barrel is not longer forcing it to the left it will not accelerate towards the left, gravity is still acting upon it so it will accelerate toward the earth.

Indeed. The truth is that evolution is just as viable as any other scientific theory, and only an irrational, ignorant group of people want to single it out for scrutiny.
Why aren't we slapping on disclaimers regarding atomic theory or the electromagnetic theory?

Hey, if you want to completely misrepresent the theory of evolution because you're too ignorant to attack it for what it is, that's your right.

I am getting in over my head here, but I believe a theroy is accepted but not proven. Once a theory is proven by observation or experimentation it becomes fact. Someon please correct me is that is not so.
