Goss fears WMD attack in U.S. 'a matter of time'

Senior U.S. intelligence leaders told Congress yesterday that "it may only be a matter of time" before terrorists try to use weapons of mass destruction against the United States. In his first public appearance since becoming CIA director in September, Porter J. Goss used the annual worldwide threat hearing to issue the prediction, while another federal official said the FBI knows little about al Qaeda sleeper cells such as the September 11 terrorists. "It may be only a matter of time before al Qaeda or another group attempts to use chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons," Mr. Goss told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III testified that he is "very concerned" about the lack of data on a network of al Qaeda "sleeper" cells in the United States.

Great post. It seems the braintrust in DC is so worried about not offending any particular group that they either
A) depend on for votes or
B) think that they can siphon votes from to hurt the other side of the aisle
that the safety of the country is forgotten. None of them seem to remember that WE ARE AT WAR!
Political correctnes will be the end of this country. How many liberal, as they are forced to pray to Allah or are about to be beheaded, will think "at least I didnt offend anyone or hurt their feelings"

It's frightening, I'm telling you. And I am not sure how many people in here call or write to their Reps about this, but surely the lawmakers know that we are finding out. They might try to sweep this under the rug, but we can still find it.
I don't believe there is anything that is going to be done about our porous borders. There will be a lot of talk with no action, as usual.

We've already had a small-scale WMD attack in this country right after 9/11. It's amazing how this seems to have just been flushed right down the memory hole.
Communications are out,computers are fried, radio's out, TV's out, and no one knows what to do.
Will your police, firemen, and scattered homeland security people be able to instruct 200,000 people on the fine art of staying alive in the critical first few hours after the blast?
Someone has to get real.

This topic of open borders infuriates me. It is our govt. who is promoting guest worker programs, illegals to enter and they even let many stay.
Now whose fault will it be when these terrorists come in and do their destruction?

No, I brought this up because it was debated here some time ago just how much Mexicans look like Arabs, and how that was the Mexican border risk.
When the WMD goes off, we'll have to look out for ourselves. They'll blame it on someone in the power structure (probably Bush or the CIA), not "open borders".
America is now an "open" country, ole-ole-in-free to whomever wants to make the effort to cross the borders and get away with it. Our politicians plan to do nothing about it, for any reason, to reverse it. Nothing!
Everyone knows there are no WMD's. /sarcasm
