Europa: Is it possible that Bush wasn't entirely wrong?
International Herald Tribune ^ | February 18, 2005 | Richard Bernstein

BERLIN Probably it's a bit too much to say, on the eve of President Bush's fence-mending trip to Europe next week, that a specter is haunting Europe, but let's say it anyway: A specter is haunting Europe and it is the possibility, following the elections in Iraq, that perhaps Bush is less of a dangerous bungler than so many Europeans previously believed him to be. . Why a specter? Because, let's face it, even though Europeans were gracious enough not to gloat during the darkest days of the Iraqi conflict, you could almost smell the schadenfreude here over the American plight.

I guess now is a good time for the Euros to ask themselves if they would rather be right or would they rather be happy. Acually, Would they rather be right or would they rather be safe?

Can we help support Iran and Syria in there Alliance against Bush?

Can we Support Iran-Syria against US?

Is it legal? How to go about it? Finacially and vocally or bloggerly?
Any ideas and or help appreciated. I'm working with a very small group on another forum also. Thanks in advance.

Here you see a post at the DU. Are these people completely around the bend?

They would rather just continue fighting there little hidden war against us. The problem with this article is that it actually imagines that he Euros evasions, dodges and rhetorical hustles are an honest articulation of their actual intent.

Euros remind me of dogs at dinner time. They try to be nice in hopes of having something given to them but cant help themselves when they end up h*mping your leg under the dinner table.

Just got off the phone from talking with my daughter who is studying in Italy. An elderly man just walked up to her and American! Bush, ooooo (as in yuck). She was just stunned. Her companions nearly died laughing because she's the only Bush supporter among them.

Please, my dog is an altogether superior creature to these folks. No need to slander dogs.

Their delusions have quite driven them out of their minds.

One gets the same sort of reactions out of a drunk.

Interesting article. I hope at least a few folks click through to read the whole thing.

The successful Iraqi elections are beginning to change some minds in Europe.

Thoroughly disgusting.

Not only that, but stupid. These morons would ally with people who would lop off their heads just for being Americans, regardless of their hatred for Bush.

...and criticized Europeans for failing to admit that "even a wrong war can have some positive consequences."

How can a war that removed a brutal, raping, torturing, murderous thug and his equally brutal and twisted sons, from power, and gave the people the right to govern themselves, possibly be "wrong"? If the consequences of the war (namely, the elmination of Saddam, the DEATH of his two sick sons (hooray!!!), and the emergence of self-governance) are positive, how can anyone say that the war itself was somehow a bad thing?

You have to love pretzels to appreciate the "logic" of these idiots.

It was my take also that this was somewhat of a reevaluation of the group think that has been taking place in Europe against American policy.

I have been very vocal about my disdain for the anti-American slant present in 99% of articles coming out of Europe in recent years, especially from france

This one is a small breath of fresh air.

If this is the governing logic, it is utterly inexcusable that the US hasn't invaded North Korea, a real-world enactment of '1984' if there is one.

Of course, there is a lot more to a war znd its consequences than if the bad guys are really bad.

What if (gasp!) Bush was not merely "not entirely wrong" but "almost entirely right". It's really becoming almost impossible to not laugh out loud at "European opinion". Beyond the obvious point that we could not give two s***s what they think, criticism from the group of nations which gave the world Communism, Fascism, Nazism, and two immensely bloody world wars is less than a bad joke.

Oh, and for all the quagmire fans: three weeks to take over a country of 25 million well armed people is a walkover. Must have given any Frenchmen (using the term "men" loosely) shivers of 1940 deja vu.
