WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said Wednesday he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a form of cancer. Specter is expected to receive chemotherapy every two weeks over the next 24 to 32 weeks at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. A statement from the senator's office said he expects to be able to continue to serve as chairman during his treatment. "Senator Specter has an excellent chance of being completely cured of his Hodgkin's disease," his doctor said.
Good luck in your treatment Arlen, even those of us Toomey supporters are behind you on this one!
Please delete this one. A glitch made me double post myself.
Prayers for the Senator
So does this mean if he resigns Fat Eddie Spendell will select his replacement?
Prayers for the senator and anyone dealing with this challenge. Second thought is: isn't amazing how God does work.
Prayers for Sen. Specter.
The good news is that Hodgkin's, when caught early enough, is one of the more treatable forms of cancer. Prayers and best wishes on their way, regardless.
Prayers for Senator Spector.
He had a brain tumor several years ago.
Perhaps it would be wise for Senator Specter to (ahem) 'temporarily' step aside as chairman of the SJC, and perhaps someone could 'temporarily' fill his role, like Senator Cornyn of Texas, or Brownback of Kansas, and of course Arlen would be welcome to sit in on any meetings of the committee while he undergoes chemotherapy, but to be sure that he isn't overly stressed from such a regimen, the (ahem) 'temporary' chairman would probably be happy to serve until say,,,the end of 2008!
It's the least we can do for Pennsylvania's senior Senator. ;)
So9
Hodgkins is treatable isn't it?
One thing to consider -when one knows they are possibly very soon to face judgment they tend to reconcile their beliefs and actions...
Prayers for a fellow Republican.
Well said.
Thoughts and prayers.
Best wishes to Senator S. for a speedy recovery.
Let's all hope and pray for a full recovery. Can you say "Senator Rendell"?
Maybe this explains the nose of a few weeks ago. Prayers for him during this difficult time.
