Investors sue filmmaker over `Long War of John Kerry'
NEW YORK Two investors who say they thought they were backing a commercial movie are suing the makers of a documentary about Senator John Kerry.
The federal lawsuit was filed in New York by brothers Marc and Russell Abrams. They contend they were misled about the film's goal by longtime Kerry friend George Butler and the film's producers.
The brothers allege the film "Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry" was intended primarily to boost the Massachusetts Democrat's chances in the 2004 presidential election.
The brothers' lawyer says they're asking to recover their 175-thousand-dollar investment and damages of one-point-three (m) million dollars.
Butler calls the lawsuit "baseless and insulting to the artistic integrity of the film."
LOL!
But this bomb really bombed....
I first heard about this movie on Moby's web site. Enuff said.
LOL, fools on parade. I have an ultra-liberal old friend who actually knew Kerry as a fellow Swift Boat dude. Absolutely hates Kerry's guts. Voted for Naday: "Kerry is a cowardly charlatan."
"You can make more with a flop than a hit!"
Who did they think they were hiring, Michael Moron?
I have no sympathy for retards like this. As far as I am concerned, they should lose every penny they have, seeing how they've proven themselves to be utter idiots.
As I said when this was posted previously, Anyone stupid enough to invest in a movie about Hanoi John deserves to lose their investment.
If I remember right, this film was shown in a few cities and didn't recover 'costs'. In one theater it has about 7 people watching it.
When it played in Seattle, the ticket taker told me there were only three people on a Friday night at a VERY busy theatre.
Wouldn't they have to register as a political speech group then, like a 527? I wonder if they did.
The magic hat story again, right ?
That's what I remember, also. Now, if the film had been about an attack on President Bush, it might have filled a few more seats with rabid Bush-haters. But since the plot, er, documentary dealt with a candidate even the liberals knew was a phony, a liar, and the lesser of what they thought was sheer Republican evil, it failed miserably at the box office.
Stupid is as stupid does...
