"The American military is working on a new generation of soldiers, far different from the army it has.
"They don't get hungry," said Gordon Johnson of the Joint Forces Command at the Pentagon. "They're not afraid. They don't forget their orders. They don't care if the guy next to them has just been shot. Will they do a better job than humans? Yes."
The robot soldier is coming."
Not Good.
I have this vision of a bunch of Terminators.
How so? It may mean less American casualties, and personel being transferred from combat to more of a technical support role.
"They have a plan..."
Remember, 5-meter separation is not just a suggestion.
Exactly!
How so?Governments often use their "troops" against their own people.
Ready ... Aim ...fi..click..fi..click..fi..click.......we are sorry..the attack will be temporarily delayed due to technical difficulties...
Thanks for posting this.
Good point. Home grown troops often do not want to shoot their own people. Robots don't have the ability to care.
Imagine, the leftists betting back into power, and sending those things door to door to collect our guns.
Imagine, slave reparations enacted that taxed non-slave owners so that non-slaves could receive free money, and any protesters would have to face the robots.
The lefties could do anything they wanted.
I don't see how a robot soldier can ever be more intelligent than a human. Humans program these things for a set of predetermined situations. What happens when they face a situation in the battle field that it has not been programmed? This is all kinda dumb, IMHO.
I can't wait for these terminators rolling out in Iraq. What will the terrorist face look like encountering these die hards?
Imagine Douglas MacAuthur (sp?) shooting and burning out a large group of veterans and their families in Washington D.C. Ya' don't need a robot to attack your own people.
Robots are, esentially, unthinking machines. I'm not so sure that I want an unthinking machine carrying a weapon around me.
Furthermore, down the line, I would think that this would bring more civilian casualties....why, you ask? Because if you have two states at war with robots, they don't really care how many robots they lose. It could make war last perpetually longer, as all you are losing is money.
So how do you go about winning? You bring the war to the people - the civilians - and cause casualties.
And it is also somewhat scary to think that we may eventually put a weapon in the "hands" of a machine that does learn as it goes....
I don't think so-called "intelligent" machines will ever happen in my life time.
