THE NEW YORK OBSERVER will report tomorrow: 'Former 60 Minutes Wednesday executive editor Josh Howard has told colleagues that before he resigns, the 23-year CBS News veteran will demand that the network retract remarks by CBS president Leslie Moonves, correct its official story line and ultimately clear his name'...
In the event of a lawsuit, Mr. Howard has told associates that he would like to see Moonves put under oath to talk about his own roles in the network's stubborn, hapless defense of the flawed segment on President Bush's National Guard service.
Howard has also indicated to colleagues that he would subpoena specific CBS documents, including the e-mails of top executives.

Think there are any documents showing coordination with the Kerry campaign? Didn't the Dems have an ad campaign with a national guard theme - which they pulled when this scheme back fired? If I remember, this was shortly after the RNC convention, and shortly after the infamous Kerry / Clinton hospital call.
Could be very, very interesting. IE: J Lockhart and his cronies.

Mapes is scum. She knew exactly what she was doing, spending five years manufacturing this story. She hoped she could manipulate the higher ups to back her "journalistic integrity" and "star power." While I have no sympathy for her enablers, I want to see her burn over this.
I do commend CBS for making sure that this thing that couldn't get a date with the Elephant Man stayed behind the camera.

. Or, at the very least, don't we as the public have the right to know who did originate these foregeries and how they became disseminated? now now - that's what reporting is supposed to be about - but hasn't been in decades
However, socialists are rats who desert the proverbial sinking ship, pushing other rats off the anchor rope as they go - so we may find out by default

This should be fun to watch. Oh yes. But I have a feeling that Mr. Howard will become a very, very wealthy man before we see any big suits at Viacom get dragged into the spotlight.
Of the people taking the hit, as I recall e-mails released by the Thorneburg whitewash crew, Howard was the only one who even attempted to discover what the truth was or even discuss retraction.
This story has the potential to get juicy as hell, but Moonves and Redstone will give away lots and lots of stockholders money to keep it from getting out.

It seems like they had something they called "Fortunate Son", that was suppose to come out right at the same time, but I didn't see anything. In my mind, there is no doubt there was coordination with the Kerry camp. I just hope it actually comes out instead of everyone settling.

And, I'm sure none of it will be Rather's "fault."

When I took a Wilshire Elementary field trip to the Frito (pre-FritoLay) factory in San Antonio, circa 1963 (I'm older than dirt) and toured the attached museum--stuffed Polar bears, rattle snakes, and other curios, the Pearl brewery was next door: I remember the smoke stack:

All this because Dan Rather was kicked out of the marines after only 43 days? Would he still be the flaming anti-American liberal that he is?
