That cnn piece was bs.
Howard Kurtz basically shows the success (rather) and failure (Omally) of FR and how the post exposed FR for being wrong and having rumor spreaders....
WHEN IT WAS A MOLE WORKING WITH THE POST THAT WAS PRIMARILY SPREADING IT!!!!
What crap! Who were the 10+ newbies who just registered, have 1 post to their name EVER and who spread the Omally rumor along with MD4BUSH on that July posting????
Something's funny about that graph...why is the scale upside down on the lefthand side? It must be a negative-log or something with the negative sign omitted...evidently, though, further up is better. Go FReep!
If we could just keep our folks from jumping over there to see "what he other side is talking about" as if it matters, they would have a lot lower rating.

Otherwise, would the OLD MEDIA even have reported it?
%%%%%
Of course, we would never have heard of it. The fact that the Old Media reps in that room were not bothered by his comments illustrates the seriousness of the problem. What Jordan was saying was NOT NEWS to the reporters that were there; it was accepted fact.
I think that graph is based on a percentage of all the hits on the entire internet in a day. We have a higher number than DU because we get many more hits per million than they do. Google and Yahoo are at the very top.
I missed that statement--doesn't much sound like Rush, but I guess if you heard it, he said it! I personally can think of a few more people who need to be fired!
What is the difference between a blog and a website?
Lovely!
My, oh my. When I put pictures on my website I didn't think I was doing the Alexa equivalent of stuffing the ballot box!
No, let the CNN folks get all-a-flutter about being mentioned at FreeRepublic. It should go something like this;
FreeRepublic/cyn Teaser: CNN shown
DU'ers are a bunch of crazzzzzy emotional loons. They never operate on facts...just their crazzzzy emotions. Facts to them are unimportant. ;o)
I'm sick of giving them Alexa noise, too, even though it's been fun stirring the pot over there. If anyone wants to use my username to post, I'm Rose Siding, and my password is...well, Freepmail me for the password if you want it.
There were a pack of trolls that signed up and kept the thread hot. NCPAC was just dumb enough to bite. It's not as if he's an innocent--but they were certainly doing their best to elicit this crap. And it's obvious to most that the MSM is only doing it to try and beat down the influence the web has now on the ratings of their POS operations.
I don't know. I'm a pretty prominent DUer over there, and tend to get them going on a lot of their more prominent threads (let's just say You know my work) but it's so troubling to post some crazy Dean-loving thread and see all the wackos hop all over it. I've worked in volunteer work with young people (non-religious, left-leaning charitable organizations which are the only ones servicing the area I work), and I can say that if someone wanted to volunteer and had the attitudes these "humanist DUers" have, I'd toss them on the street. So that's why I'm considering not hanging there so much anymore.
How you stuck around long enough to get to that level, without barfing so much you're bulimic, I'll never know. I posted stuff I knew would get a rise out of them, but it was hard after a while even stomaching some of the return posts I'd get.
I'm considering becoming a bomb-thrower--starting threads and then not reading the responses! :) But I'd be found out if I did.
