Search engine is cash engine for Democrats
WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Employees of U.S.-based search engine Google gave $207,650 to federal candidates for the 2004 elections -- virtually all of it to Democrats.
A USA Today analysis published Monday indicated 98 percent of the money went to Democrats, the most-lopsided giving of any of the top tech company donors.
Microsoft was the biggest tech donor, with its political action committee contributing $3.1 million last year, 60 percent to Democrats.
Overall, 53 percent of high-tech industry contributions went to Democrats, said the liberal Center for Responsive Politics, a group that tracks campaign spending and contributions.
Republicans must work hard to win support from a company whose employees seem philosophically wed to Democrats, CRP's Larry Noble said.
Google declined to discuss employee campaign contributions but the among the company's top 2004 givers was Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt, whose biggest single donation was $25,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

To remove Google from Firefox go to Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins and remove google.src and google.gif.
I now use Clusty.
Google is way over the top both in their donations and political search responses.
I haven't used Google for years. Now I know why.
Check out www.metacrawler.com. It's at least as good.
I used to think Yahoo! was where it's at.
There are people out there who believe that the only way onto the www is via AOL.
They'll know. They count hits.
DITTO THAT!
Damn liberal Aholes!
You know, google has become almost a necessity, like a utility company or health care.
Maybe its time to nationalize it. As Democrats, the employees should approve.
;-)
I'll use the best and most efficient search engine regardless of their donations unless it influences their web page which I've heard it may regarding news.......I won't boycott a company that is legally doing business and putting out a decent product.....
And who do they donate to? Hummmmmm?
Ha! 'Guess they wasted their bucks.
Microsoft put a lot of work into their new search engine. I use it along with google for searches, it's Microsoft but hey, it works.
Yahoo search
M$ gave 9 times as much than Google.
M$ gave 9 times as much to the Democrats than Google.
Unfortunately, Google is the best search engine out there so I'm going ot keep on using it. Rememeber, they're the ones who wasted so much money.
