The government has been moving in this direction for quite sometime, prompted by pharmaceutical companies in E.U. and U.S..( What's the diffrence?) Natural remedies, vitamins and such are regulated in Germany and other European countries. We can't allow this to occur in the U.S.. Many prominent doctors are now recommending alternatives like herbs, vitamins and minerals in place of symptom supressing drugs.

Will this raise the price of foods that contain these vitamins and minerals, because they will need to be tested to see if the fall within the guidelines??

I can see why you posted this- sounds like "pills" are a very important part of your life.

You are nuts. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Do you sell vitamin supplements?

Glad I have my own herb garden. Even my boneheaded dogs and cats know to go out and eat some grass when they have an upset stomach.
And if you eat a healthy diet, you don't need suppliments in the first place. I do take iron because I don't eat much red meat, and I can't choke down enough spinach to make a difference. But...when I find that iron ore vein in my back yard, I'll be diggin' for all it's worth, LOL!
I think this article is bogus, eventhough it doesn't apply to me in the least.

If it were true it wouldn't last long. But it might convert a few million DUhmmies to the limited-government anti-world gummint philosophy after seeing what THAT could mean.

Doing a google search for this shows up:
The last of the above items seems to be an ancestor to the original posting on this thread.
It seems that if the WTO follows these guidelines, it would lead to vitamins becoming classified as drugs in more countries than just the few, such as Germany, that do so now. Such as the good old U. S. of A.
There is perhaps some hype and fear mongering mixed in with this alarm. But my suspicion is that there is some substantial truth as well.

Do I take it this warning refers to Canada and not the US?
The US has actually moved away over the past few decades from a situation where medical doctors had a virtual monopoly on what could be bought and sold. Some insurance companies now even pay for alternative medical treatment.
Some forms of alternative medicine are pretty effective, depending on what the problem is.
