Pro-abortion nuns to speak at Wisconsin parish
Matt C. Abbott
February 6, 2005
Catholic and pro-life activist Darla Meyers sent me a notice that Sisters Brigid and Jane McDonald, CSJ, will be speaking on "Living Non-Violence in a Violent World" at a conference at St. Patrick Church in Hudson, Wis. (a parish in the Diocese of Superior) on Feb. 19.
On the surface, it looks fine. But these nuns are notoriously left-wing, believing, among other things, that legalized abortion is "crucial," though they are supposedly "troubled" by abortion itself.
In addition, Sister Jane has been quoted as saying, "Catholicism is oppressive. I've become less shackled since I've discovered the gift of the Goddess. I'm much closer to earth and animals. My God was too small, microscopic. I feel I've gotten reeducated about spirituality." She also said, "Get rid of the Roman collar, clericalism, the pope. Jesus would be the first one to say so."
Don't believe me? Take a quick look at the following lengthy 1999 article in City Pages (the above quotes are from this article):
http://www.citypages.com/databank/20/962/article7560.asp
The St. Patrick Church website is http://www.pressenter.com/~stpats/.
Matt C. Abbott is the former executive director of the Illinois Right to Life Committee and the former director of public affairs for the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League. He is a Catholic journalist and commentator. He can be reached at mattcabbott@hotmail.com .
Brigid McDonald |
I do not believe that trespassing (crossing a forbidden line) deserves prison time while making weapons of mass destruction (landmines, uranium munitions, bombs, etc) is perfectly legal (and lucrative). I never seek to be arrested, but sometimes it is the price of discipleship.
Jane McDonald |
Jane McDonald is one of four McDonald sisters who are members of the Sisters of St. Joseph in St. Paul. Along with their sister Maggie who is married, a grandmother and a protester, the sister sisters present a consistent face of compassion, courage and humility to the public as they act on their beliefs.

There are many ways to describe this woman but "Catholic" is not one of them.

You have hit the nail on the head. I attended a Catholic girl's boarding school at the Motherhouse of an Ursuline order. We had three of the New Age nuns. The difference between them and the othe older nuns that taught us plus the retired sisters was amazing. I was ensured at the time with the new age ones, but later in life, I found the older ones the best role models for piety and holiness. I sure some of them weep now for the direction their Order has taken.

"pro-abortion nuns"?
That's an oxymoron. They're frustrated, mentally anguished women disguised as nuns.

that sums it up. I know some orders of nuns who are holy and pray often. They are nice to people and aren't into this left wing activism.
Dick Codey is the Gov. of NJ who wrote the embryonic stem cell legislation and wrote legislation to fund it. His sister is an activist nun.

sounds like she's a new age pagan violating the first commandment. It's so sad. And to think they are recruiting more women to join their order where they will corrupt their souls.

The one and only G-d, I AM, made it clear to the Israelites regarding the worshiping of idols, pagan gods, pantheism, naturalism. I'm wondering how they explain the first commandment?

The first question that comes to mind is why are they allowed to remain when their views differ from christianity so much? Would Jesus really advocate legalized abortion?

"Living Non-Violence in a Violent World" Do they think abortion is a non-violent procedure? Have they ever SEEN an abortion? There is nothing non-violent about it.
