Teacher Charged With Having Sex With 13-Year-Old Student
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - An elementary school teacher has been charged with having sex with one of her students, a 13-year-old boy, at his home and at school, authorities said Tuesday.
Pamela Turner, 27, was charged Monday with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape for acts between November and January. Story Continues Below
Turner, who teaches physical education at Centertown Elementary, lived at the boy's house "for a brief period of time when she was moving from residence to residence," Warren County prosecutor Dale Potter said. The boy's parents did not know anything about the relationship, he said. Potter said Turner was arrested Monday in Clarkrange, her hometown about 55 miles northeast of McMinnville in central Tennessee.
Conviction on all counts could be punished by up to 100 years in prison. But Potter said it was more likely that a conviction would mean a minimum of a year to several years in prison.
Turner is free on $50,000 bond. She's been placed on leave by the school system.
A telephone message left at the home of her father, who lives in Clarkrange, was not immediately returned Tuesday evening.
Turner's husband filed for divorce in January, alleging inappropriate marital conduct, according to the Southern Standard newspaper in McMinnville.

All this hyperventialted angst may or may not be warranted, and certainly the skank broke the law, but to compare male adult rape of a female with the seduction by an adult female of a young male is twisted. Two different "crimes" altogether. And, um, "most" likely this boy in particular will "probably" end up alright, is my guess (and hope).
Suppose this boy got her pregnant or caught an std? Wouldn't be so funny now would it? Actions have consequences.

You don't know how it might, at bottom, affect his relations to women. How about that? There're myriad unseen ways in which some1 can be adversely affected by this kind of thing (conversely, tho, it could also be not as bad as the psychobabblers want us to think). And that's the truth. That's what more moral and modest people understood in an earlier age when they ruled and made the rules like this. It should be intuitively obvious. But in this day of no morals and sex any time you want - it's not.

The thing is, there have been some scientific studies on exactly this topic and the fact is boys very often experience emotional problems similar to those that girls do later on. In fact, a thirteen year old girl is usually more emotionally mature than a thirteen year old boy.
I agree with you, and in no way am I condoning this behavior. OTOH, a psychiatrist friend of mine once told me that most kids will turn out alright, despite how stupid, malevolent, or incompetent their parents were, if there were no physical abuse, etc.
So, will this kid turn out ok? If it were me, I think I'd be ok. But thats just me :)

Not looking good for her though. Her husband filed for divorce, and something in the divorce filing, "inappropriate marital conduct" or something like that, led to a police investigation which has resulted in these charges against her. The boys parents claimed they were unaware of anything going on. If so, how did the police find out about the boy? From the husband?

Survivors of sexual abuse aren't all women. In fact there are many men walking around who suffer because of the attitude that teen sex is good for boys. It isn't and I really wonder about some men. A guy told me once quite proudly how his housemaid took his virginity as a teen. To know him is to know he can't hold down a relationship at all.
To tell you the truth, I really wouldn't know know. What have you seen while witnessing men having sex with boys?

Hmm, sounds a little double standard to me.
I have a nephew that was abused by his father, and his mother. One accused the other of the abuse. I still don't know the real truth. Neither does social services. It was just a mess.
Little girls are victims, little boys are lucky. Double standard. UNFAIR. Children should be left as children, and the entire thing makes me ill.
I thought my point was pretty clear...you are saying you have no opinion or say because you are not a woman. I compared that to the argument many men make about abortion.
Forget gender for a moment...should only males me punished for sexual abuse?
