Shadow of the Blade on the Military Channel (Blatant, unashamed vanity)
Posted on 02/10/2005 9:36:22 PM PST by arjay
I just watched a program on the Military Channel called "In the Shadow of the Blade." What a great tribute to the dust off crews and our vets. It will show again and I highly recommend it.
It follows some of the crews flying a Huey around the states reuniting with people they had saved and families of those they were unable to save.
I am truly humbled by the courage and bravery of our Viet Nam vets. May God bless you all.
One story was exceptional as it showed a nurse to whom our soldiers brought a tiny baby to see if she could be saved. The nurse pointed to the picture and said "We were not baby killers. Our guys fought to save babies."
Sure was a blurry picture.

I love the Military Channel. What a great decision to dump Discovery Wings and convert this channel to the Military Channel. ;-)

Did they say how much the DVD costs on this? I bet my son with the 158th would like one. Sure bet they don't get the Military Chanel in Germany.

I did not see anything about them selling DVDs or tapes of it. I have it taping now for a friend who was a medic on a Huey in Nam.
I don't think I have ever been as impressed by any documentary about Nam.

What a great decision to dump Discovery Wings and convert this channel to the Military Channel. Hey! I loved Wings! "Airport" was my favorite show and the building of choppers and airplanes was great!
I wish they could have kept Wings for us flight aficionados.

I've got a few pictures from when our unit went to a local Vietnamese orphanige with candy and clothes for the kids. Like today, the MSM didn't make our efforts a newswothy item then either.

Watching the last few minutes of it now.
Thankfully, the Military Channel replays their stuff quite regularly.
Getting misty-eyed after only watching a few minutes!
God Bless America, and God Bless our veterans.

They saved my brother's life even though they thought he wasn't going to make it. He came back from Nam and went on to have two sons and a great life.

I watched it through the tears. I was a Huey pilot in Vietnam, 336th Assault Helicopter Company (Warriors). It brought back a lot of memories. I eventually spent 20 years in the Army, only 1 year of it in Vietnam but that 5% of total time defined me as it did many others.

Go here
Shadow of the Blade if you want to order a DVD, plus there is a lot of other information on how they produced the documentary.
