This is a health warning to all the men out there regarding testicle cancer. I just returned from surgery to have cancer removed. I discovered it 2 months ago when bathing. I had my doctor check it, he sent me for an ultrasound and a cat scan, and a week later I was having it removed (hey, I still have a spare). This cancer is very treatable, but a lot of men are either embarassed or don't think it will happen to them. But it is somewhat common as cancers go. I still may have to go for follow up treatment based on the biopsy to prevent any speading.
So - if you have never been checked for this, GET IT CHECKED! Maybe I can save some of you a rather painful operation and recovery (the recovery being the painful part).
As an aside, I got a call from a guy I work with and they said they are trying to think up a new nickname for me. I thanked him for "trying to cheer me up"
My teenage son must've gotten your warning-he's forever checking for it...
What was the manifestation?
Prayers for you. Hopefully they got it all.
LOL. I've already heard all the jokes - "hang in there", etc...
I also read that rates have risen. I wonder if that is just because it is being diagnosed more frequently where it wouldn't be in the past.
What are the symptoms and/or what were your symptoms?
Good luck with any recovery. Hopefully they got all signs of cancer. These kinds of warnings are so vital. Thanks.
A smaller man would have gotten testy.
My "left one" was almost solid compared to the right. They also found a tumor on it.
I think your nick hacksaw is totally appropriate.
Good luck and speedy recovery. May God bless you and your family.
Mine are both made of brass....
Any idea at what age I should start being concerned?
That being said , have you shared you screen name with your co-workers?
"Hacksaw Lefty" ...ouch !!!
Hey, if we can't discuss very personal medical issues then we aren't really among friends, are we?
Did it feel different, i.e. was it hard or something or what? Did you just notice something felt different?
Here's to a speedy recovery. I try not to dwell on this subject it's a pretty unsettleing thought when you get my age.
Any kind of "Warning Sign's" that you care to share.??
See #9. Not much pain from the cancer itself except a dull ache that was barely noticeable. I'm on percs now, so I'm not feeling much of anything. The worst part of the recovery is trying to sleep, because the incision is made right above the penis (they don't take it out through the scotum). If you sleep on your stomach as I do, you're pretty much out of luck.
I have a female friend who had a double masectomy, and I can't even imagine what that had to be like.
People ask if I've noticed any changes, but I haven't noticed a vas deferens....
