“The lesson the President has learned best—and certainly the one that has been the most useful to him—is the axiom that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. One of his Administration’s current favorites is the whopper about America having been founded on Christian principles. Our nation was founded not on Christian principles but on Enlightenment ones. God only entered the picture as a very minor player, and Jesus Christ was conspicuously absent.” Thus begins an article by Brooke Allen that was posted on the website of “The Nation” on February 3, 2005.1 It’s obvious that Allen has not...

America is a Christian nation. To seek a foundation in vapid secularism, in atheism, Islam or any other competing and inadequate worldview would be to betray our founding. No, George Bush did not lie.

According to the history books they are publishing now he did.

I still have my school books from the 70's and 80's in the attic I pull out and let my kids read along with the Bible every so often so they learn the truth.

Maybe Gary DeMar would be happier in Cuba or even China.

I wish I would have saved my old history books, for the same reason. Good thinking, O P Dad!

Precisely. These far-leftist, godless freaks should leave America to its people, who believe in the founding principles of this country -- these people are an abomination upon this country, the whole lot of the leftist commies, who criticize and attack everything that America is, but continue to live here, and benefit from the protections afforded by the very principles they attack.

They are twisted, lost people.

George Bush did not lie. I am sure he believed what he said. He was just wrong.

"America was founded on Christian Principles" is not as big a whopper as "I personally ran guns to the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia on Christmas 1968 on the direct orders of president-elect Nixon."

If America was not founded as a Cristian nation, why then are such a vast number of city names Cristian based?

I doubt it. Cuba was founded on Christian Principles.

John Quincy Adams: "The American Revolution forever joined the principals of Christianity with civil government. If it did not, then it was in vain."

The most important words in the US Constitution are:

We the People of the United States ... do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

True, rightful and just government power comes from the consent of the governed, nothing more, nothing less.

DeMar is a Christian responding to the blowback from secularists like Dowd and company after the Inauguration.

His site is: http://www.americanvision.org/

Y'all are right. Secularists enjoy the fruit of a nation founded squarely upon the revealed religion of Christianity, enjoy the fruits of liberty and rights rooted in a transcendent Creator.

This thread in the continuation of a discussion on the South Carolina message boards (by way of background info.).

That is true, but I would venture to say that most true leftists are atheists at least to the extent they hold contempt for any form of faith, be it religous, or otherwise, which in any way reflects MORALS, VALUES, OR STANDARDS OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR AND TRUTHFULNESS.

True leftists...of the socialist kind are their own religion. Marxism is a religion. Auden called it the leading Catholic heresy of the 20th century. What's that sing about trying to create a heavn on earth? Pelagianism?

"If America was not founded as a Cristian nation, why then are such a vast number of city names Cristian based?"

***

It's mostly the Spanish-colonized areas that were given saints' names: San Antonio, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Santa Fe....everything else seems to be have been given Indian names like Seattle, Wichita, Kansas, Tuscaloosa, Chicago, Indianapolis...

Although I don't know about Paducah...
