Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

IF you were ever in Nam, you and Kerry should be good buddies. He can't let go of it, either.

What the hell kind of statement is THAT?? Are you questioning Tonk's service?? You'll need to take a step back from that one!

The moment you turn your back on some one like Kerry, you lose; we all lose. Kerry has in the past done great damage to the military and to the esteem of this country for his own political advantage. Kerry has trod on the graves of our fallen, slandered veterans and will continue to do so unless stopped. Kerry has already denigrated our servicemen and women serving presently. Kerry is not an official representative of the administration, yet he meets with foreign leaders in his personal attempt to undermine current foreign policy.

TonkinGulf and I recognize Kerry for what he is and will not stop pursuing his total political defeat. Kerry is neither credible or qualified to represent Massachusetts nor the country.

Well, well...aren't you a little arrogant tonight? You do not know what is going on, yet you try to posture as a mod.

And one more thing, the Canteen serves it's purpose well. Sure, there are a lot of us there who are just downright silly, but the point is to entertain and troops who might be away from home and missing it. They can pop in anytime day or night and chat with someone...and they do. Not only the ones who post, but the lurkers as well. The graphics make it fun. You don't like it, you don't have to show up there. But it's there for those who need it.

Sorry to butt into your slamming of someone, but I want you to know that Tonk's not alone around here. And for the record, he didn't tell me about this thread. I found it on my own.

Tonk deserves respect regardless of what you think about what he posts. I, too, found this without anyone prompting me. I am thankful for Tonk and his service. He has some valid points if you can quit nit-picking the delivery and read them. If we were all half as diligent as he with the wrongs in this nation, we wouldn't have to fight so hard for our freedoms. Everyone on FR has the right to skip posts and not read them. The scroll button is easy to use. Peace.

I don't see that Tonk is stinking up ANY website in ANY way.

"Becuase you're nucking futs?"

For saying that about an honerable and decent man like Tonk my reply to you sir is...pot met kettle.

"Because John Kerry isn't crapping up this thread right now?"

No but he IS crapping up the U.S. Senate where he is not...according to the info Tonk has supplied qualified to serve.

Nah. Given the choice between a one trick pony candidate who can't win while giving the election to the party devoted to MORE illegals (someone has to chaffeur the family around and clean the mansion), versus voting for the Republican, there isn't any choice.

Who would you believe? A Medal of Honor recipient or Rush?

You've certainly thrown your weight around a little too much lately.

I saw Rush for free in 2000....he was at a campaign event in Washington state for the GOP governor candidate. He was hilarious. Bill Bennett was even funnier.

Excellent idea, but Mark has his gig on WABC from 6-8, which I love to listen to even though the station doesn't come in so hot during the winter months, I am about 75 miles out of NYC. I think Rush uses Roger in order to make himself look good.

Trying to be a friend and trying to forestall mod action.
I'm sorry I was trying to watch out for those I care about.
I shall be more careful in the future about who I care about.

Sorta like glorifying treason, if I get your drift Tonk.
I keep asking the radio why this guy hasn't been in jail for the last 35 years.

Well...sounds like you have to increase the scope of your imaginiation. I find that man obnoxious, annoying and very condescending. He thinks he is Gods gift to earth.
