Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

Very good questions. Why don't the conservative media press the issues. I am becoming very confused.....

If you know Rush and listen to him everyday, you would have known that the divorce was inevitable after he got out of rehab for drug addiction. He was forced into counseling for the very first time and he came out of it with a new attitude. But, I'm sorry that he and Marta couldn't work it out, together. He has probably made the biggest mistake of his life in asking for a divorce from her.

Don't be a CINO (Conservative in Name Only)
Don't listen to CINO's in politics,
the Main Stream CINO media,
and even here on Free Republic.
EXPOSE the traitor for what he really is, The Enemy Within.

Don't listen to CINO's who want to "move on".
And tell you "get over it Kerry lost"
"Kerry is finished."
He's NOT finished!

And remember this.

All it will take is for Clinton to have more problems with her health
to guarantee that Kerry WILL run in '08.

IMHO Rush is self made. No one made me listen to him.

He has helped a lot of us x-closet-conservatives become proud of who we are.

Rush isn't obsolete either, IMHO. He is getting better with age.

Although I do not always agree with him and I listen to Hannity and PBS, I always learn more about almost any given subject from Rush.

I think she can win, but it'll have to be the same way her husband won the first time, and that's with a 3rd person in the mix.

Nearly everyone claims that clinton's the greatest politician since Jefferson, but that's not true. Sure he grew confident while in office, but who, with the exception of the paranoid Nixon, doesn't?

When clinton first exposed himself to the franchised, 6 out of 10 people didn't vote for him. So, his appeal was quite a bit smaller than average. And mrs. clinton has an additional problem: the electoral college, and she knows it, because after the election of '00 when gore lost, and talk of eliminating the electoral college ensued, she jumped on the band wagon immediately. She's an electoral college wall flower, IMO.

Anybody who has one billion dollars backing him is NOT finished!

Keep up your promise to the Vets. Kerry belongs in jail,
or, at the very least, publically and thoroughly disgraced!!Please post any damn place you want to. Nobody is holding a gun to anyones head to read what you post.

BTTT

I don't get to listen everyday but I listen as often as I can and now I am a Rush 24/7 subscriber so I can get the archives now. But He should never have asked her for a divorce! He talked about how she stood by him through his deafness. Why in the world would he do that to her!

He's a fantastic speaker --- 1 1/2 hours without notes. Anyone who ever gets the chance, go and see him. Now I believe I'll change my tagline.

Yes he is. He is just such a special person. There will never be another Rush.

Roger Hedgecock is a complete obnoxious pompous unlikable idjit. I don't like that guy or his voice or his attitude at all. Rush's ratings must take a real dive when that guy is on.

Are you serious?

Roger Hedgecock is probably the best Rush substitute there is.
He's witty, he's intelligent and well informed, and the only people I could imagine not liking him are the liberals he rips daily.

U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3 is very specific.

No room, or allowance, for a traitor in The US Senate.
