Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

Me too. My brother was in the army. On the exact day of the end of his tour (one year), he was picked up in the field in some godforsaken jungle by a chopper to begin his long journey home.

He is my silent hero.

"What TGYC is attempting to do is identify himself with the true Swift Boat Vets via assimiliation simply because he "May" have helped service such boats while stationed on the Corry when they were deployed off the coast of Vietnam."

It wasn't "MAY HAVE HELPED"

RE-read and post the correct text!

I was there the same time Kerry was.
I was there Oct'68-Apr'69 on the destroyer USS Corry DD-817
which sometime supplied PCF's and PBR's
and provided gunfire and gunfire support
in North AND South Viet Nam.

Boy, you said it, he IS boring, I get so ticked off because Rush has him subbing WAY too much. Plus, when Roger is on, he gets the most idiotic callers.

Hey onedoug: want to enlighten Hot Tobasco about Operation Bold Mariner?

My ship may have even supplied
Kerry's boat in the Mekong Delta

Although there are many similarities between naval gunfire support
and Operation Sea Dragon (which ended Nov '68), they differ in two important areas:
naval gunfire support is normally fired at the request of troops ashore,
while Sea Dragon's mission is the interdiction of supplies and destruction
of military targets; and naval gunfire support is always conducted in South Vietnam,
while Sea Dragon missions are fired only above the demilitarized zone.

29 US Navy ships received gunfire from Viet Cong shore batteries.
My ship DID NOT get hit by the VC.

In Feb '69 my ship was part of Operation Bold Mariner
which was the largest amphibious assault since Korea.

I paid $75 this past summer to see Gloria Estefan. Guess what? At 53 I think Icould have been considered "young"! LOL! Great show by the way!

No, HT. I said rock shows. Not Gloria Estefan. :) Hehe!

Crikey, I wish folks would stop worshipping this mouthpiece.
It dilutes the message to make of him an icon.

Hillary has been faking moderation to position herself for a run.
I hope Rudy takes her out in 2006 and that there are good videos around of her communist statements, like "WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THINGS FROM YOU".

I hope Rush is doing better at managing his pain and keeping legal with his medications.

I know some people in pain like Rush and it is a very tough situation to live with.

I do hope he is doing alright in that area now.

Get this thru your head.

YOU don't tell me what to do or not do.

Especially when you alter my statements from my FR profile to suit your self.

That's why I have Rush 24/7! I can listen at work but I'd rather be at home where my attention is fully focused.
