Good God, are you kidding? A person of Rice's talents wouldn't be wasted at the number 2 spot. Nobody votes for Vice-President, especially if Hillary did the obvious thing and picked Obama as her running mate to check Condi. That would be an incredibly stupid thing for the Stupid Party (that is, us) to do.

Looks like Matt Drudge is causing trouble this morning along these same lines:

PRESIDENT CONDI?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Yeah...just like Eisenhower.

If Dr. Rice commands armies in a victorious war then I'll change my mind.

Well...how about being one of the principal architects of the successful war against global terrorism that opened the door for the first time ever to freedom and democracy in the Arab world. Will that do it for you?

There is no way Condi could win. Too many white southern voters would shun her.

Are you a white southern voter that would shun her with lots of friends that feel the same way? That sounds like something a northern racist would say.

Many of us here were hoping that Bush would choose her as his vice presidential candidate in 2000. I now recognize that would have been premature, but certainly she would have been my leading hope if Cheney had not chosen to continue in '04.

I would work tirelessly for a Condi Candidacy.

You're wrong - Morris is right.

Condi in '08 is so unstoppable that her election would be the final nail in the coffin of the Demodogs.

THAT is why they are afraid of her. Why are you?

With but one exception, the only time this country has elected a President with no elective experience it has been a general who just won a major war. A Grant or a Taylor or an Eisenhower. If you put Dr. Rice in that category then so be it. The only other exception was Herbert Hoover, and I don't think we want Dr. Rice's name combined too closely to his.

If Condi were able to gain only 10% more of the votes from the three demographics Morris mentions in the article, she winds up with a walk-away easy victory. It is clearly not speculating too wildly that she would get 30% of black voters, 50% of single women, 40% of Hispanics.

Even if she lost some other voters' support, the election would not be even mildly close against a Hitlery candidacy.

Regardless of Condi's abortion position (my reading of that is that she is not strongly set either way) can you name me even one proLifer who would in their remotest dreams vote for Hitlery over Condi? I know you can't - don't bother responding.

Am I the only person who doesn't like trust anything Dick Morris says?
I like Rice but does anyone know what she thinks about murdering unborn children.?
What is her stance about banning guns from honest citizens?
What is her stance on CRIMINAL INVADERS?

A "leave it up to the states" position on abortion would destroy any major conservative movement to derail Condi's candidacy.

Great, great post, chris.

Condi has been a great favorite of mine for almost five years now, and she's NOT the flavor of the month. Sure, she'll have to earn the candidacy, but I honestly believe that the general election would be won by her in a walk.

Could you imagine the thunderous crash of the democrat party were Condi to step up and answer her country's call? I only hope she's pro-life. I think I've read otherwise though.

I think Condi would be an excellent VP choice. Then after 8 years of being VP, she could run for president.

Reality check: The most to be hoped for is Condi as VP candidate. In my opinion, she probably perceives herself to need more experience before campaigning at the top of the ticket.

Experience translates into having been a loser in the past while campaigning for President. This woman is a winner and doesn't need such 'experience'.

a Presidential candidate, even one as capable of Condoleeza Rice, with zero experience in domestic issues.

The only test she must pass is getting 1 more (electoral) vote than the person running against her.

I just think you're placing too much emphasis on "elective experience." Do you really think being elected governor of Arkansas makes for a better political resume than the resume Dr. Rice has? Again, we're living in an era where national security experience trumps all - and there's no one in her class.

Still like to see some prior executive experience in a Presidential candidate...
